Pruned the last of my gooseberries and dug up the 'layers' I'd purposely taken. I've got far too many but haven't got the heart to chuck em. so I've stuck them in a barel of water until i decide what to do with them.
Dug up some of last years Cara spuds and they were fine so I think I might keep a few for planting! My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order

Went to Cheltenham Festival on the train. Only 20 mins from home.
Picked a couple of winners, had my fair share of Guinness, home for a takeaway, and now I'm tired.
Day off work tomorrow so will be in the garden most of the day.

Hopefully managed to finally make my raised bed cat-proof, I'm itching to start sowing in it but won't until it stops being dug up over night.
Got excited again as more new shoots started to appear in the greenhouse.Tried and Tested...but the results are inconclusive

Emptied Dalek hoping to find my best vegetable knife but no luck. Compost was good though, filled a couple of sacks. Dug out loads of nettles from potential potato patch, added loads of compost and planted first potatoes outside. Moved heleniums to new spot near kitchen where I can see them.picked pak choi for noodle soup for tea. Sat on bench with cup of tea, OH and dog and watched the birds.

Sowed some runner beans in modules and covered with bubblewrap (the medium, not our old friend). Split some mint into three fresh pots of compost. Watered the bra seedlings. Thought I had a free Saturday, but my eldest son, wife and 4 children arrived so my time has been limited. Planning to do a bit more sowing this evening and tomorrow.Granny on the Game in Sheffield

Potted up five boking 14 root cuttings I got from ebay and put them in the cold frame.
During the week I decided I wanted some ridge cukes for pickling and found myself buying 14 packets of various seeds from vegetableseeds.net that I don't really need and probably don't have space for. They all arrived today and they also sent 2 free packets, lettuce (meh) and senshu yellow (yay!)
Sowed the cornflower seeds from the above in the garden. In the rain.
Too wet to dig at lottie so plan to prepare the root bed this weekend postponed.
Thinned brassica seedlings (technically yesterday) and went "ooo, lovely" at the onion and leek seedlings (they didn't need any work, but I thought I'd give them some attention anyway).Last edited by Kaiya; 17-03-2012, 04:44 PM.Proud member of the Nutters Club.

Prepared my potato beds (again) in preparation for the big day.
Prepared a border for beans and courgettes.
Emptied the bottom of a dalek & filled some bags with some lovely home-made compost.
Sowed some Beetroot, Little Gems and Kohl Rabi under a poly tunnel.
Did battle with myself all day to avoid sowing my spuds. Managed to resist...they'll go in end of the month now.
