Cut some PSB (that I thought was brussel sprouts, or so my friendly neighbour told me when he gave me them, so that was a nice surprise!), dug over two beds and sowed broad beans, snap peas, beetroot and perpetual spinach. Next time I go up, it'll be potatoes going in, and more heavy duty digging

Cleared a raised bed, sowed carrot seed, covered with enviromesh. Moved bags of compost from one end of the garden to the other. Sowed mixed salad in containers. Cleared another raised bed of weeds, fertilised and covered with chicken wire to keep the darn cats off. Fed the garlic. Potted on calabrese. Watered all the seedlings. Made a mental list of things to do tomorrow! Lovely day.Granny on the Game in Sheffield

Covered over two beds with tarps and pinned down with big paving slabs- no need to worry about them till May then! Weeded and black fabric-ed underneath three dwarf trees, then woodchipped the top. Finished de-stoning the parsnip bed, sowed parsnips AT LAST bit late there eh? Oops! Fingers crossed they'll be OK. Broke some sod. Weeded, trenched, and planted new potatoes. Tidied up generally, all stuff I could easily have done last autumn. Oops again.
Took me and the teenager from 9.30 to throwing out time- 6pm. And while I still feel I'm 'behind'- inherited a very messy extra half allotment I'm struggling to lick into shape at the moment- I feel a lot better about it than I did last week!!! Covering over the front beds has helped a lot, I can't see the weeds so that must mean they aren't there Or something!

Earthed up some tomatoes to just below the seed leaves and put my six new strawberry plants into larger pots. Counted my parsnip and onion shoots, excitedly noting how many more there were compared to yesterday.Tried and Tested...but the results are inconclusive

Got rid of 90% of the unburnt rubbish the previous tenants dumped in the garden. Put butternut squash, beetroot, cabbage and parsley into the propagator. Fertilised the veg plot and dug in some topsoil/compost. Went for a 20km mountain bike ride, drank some nice beer and a couple of drams of Glenmorangie...great day!

Sowed sorrel, black mustard from the asian grocers, mangetout and beans in compost unsoaked as well as soaking some for later sowing just to see the difference, aubergine and courgette.
Called it a day when migraine struck, two days in a row now, because I keep forgetting that if I have to wear sunglasses even on cloudy days, then pottering about on the balcony, unprotected, is a very bad idea. But at least it reminded me to hunt down some feverfew, which is apparently good for migraines.

Painted fence panels until it felt like my arm was going to fall off, then switched arms and now it feels like both arms are going to fall off.....
Sowed parsnip seed and some dwarf sunflower seed. As such a nice day I uhmmed and ahhed as to weather to start some runner beans off. In the end thought better of it. I'll wait a couple of weeks and start them off in the beginning of April
Just enough strength left in my arms to pour a large glass of wine
