Went allotment with two of the grandchildren (aged 2 and 3). They dug happily in a bit of spare ground while I dug over another patch. Planted out some of the garlic which has been sitting in modules.

Gave everything that looked like it wanted it a good water, and did a bit of weeding and general bed tidying.
Set up netting and poles for the peas 'n beans, so I can figure out how much space they need. Realised I don't actually have enough space to grow everything I was planning. Tried to work out how to make a new bed, when I can't dig or lift anything.
Failed.
Gave up and almost fell asleep in the sun.

Sat in a beer garden, surrounded by friends drinking wine, whilst I was on the Bitburg(?) Drive....darn not getting up early enough to have caught a bus.

Took the car to get another section of exhaust renewed only to be told the CAT is about to go too, dried my eyes and headed to the plot.
Got my last row of potatoes planted, it's taken me nearly a week to do all 6 rows Had a good tidy and things don't look nearly as daunting now.
Planted out more stawberries.
Sowed some lettuces
Potted up a supermarked chives plant.
Dug out quite a few perennial weeds.
Covered a bed with cardboard to deal with later.
Came home feeling quite pleased with myself and had a delish Sunday dinner (I love my new slow cooker for days like this)

Not much done this weekend but somthing.
Over the weeked watched slug destroy the little gem planted out last weekend, despite the cold, lack of rain and (organic) slug pelletsr. Grrrrrrrr.
Weeded around radish/pasnip/carrot/beetroot seeds planted last week. The raddishes are up. Need to invest in nemaslug urgently. (see above). Or inorganic pellets.
Dug out new 2x1 sq yard patch for tall peas to go into, incluing excavating huge bundles of bindweed roots. Champion of England/Telephone to go here. 6 have germinated so far.
Watered blueberries, tayberries, blackberries, rosecurrent and redcurrent. Also Mrs Loudbarker's magnolia and camelias in pots. We are promised a heavy shower of rain tomorrow (tues) so I hope that will replenish the waterbutt a bit.
Planted out loo roll planted broad beans (Wikeam Mantia - about 25 plants). They had come up rather slowly compared to my usual Imperial Green Longpod, but the root systems look really good. In they wentnext to the overwintered Alqua dulce. I'm sure I planted these too early last autumn.

Finished building my new greenhouse yesterday (just in time for the football) so I'm really, really chuffed about that, and can't wait to fill it up, which I'm sure won't take long.
Will try to make time one evening to put some pics on my blog.
Not much else done this weekend, but with the lighter evenings and a 4 day BH weekend coming I'll definately be busy digging, planting and sowing. The more help a man has in his garden, the less it belongs to him.

Got back from the plot about 45 minutes ago. I have now spread most of the woodchips that I had dumped in piles on the paths on Saturday. So I was able to get the barrow to the pile of compost I had delivered and that is now all on the plot; (I might be able to scrape up another barrow load IF we ever get any rain ... the remnants are a bit hard and trampled down). Forked over the one very raised bed and planted parsnips (first time ever for me), beetroot and radish. Planted a couple of rows of carrots in my giant carrot bag. The plot is looking uncharacteristically tidy! Feeling a bit smug really.
