Peas galore. Planted a row of chick peas (never done these before, so quite excited to see what happens). Apparently they're very drought tolerant, which figures when you think of the places they're most widely eaten.
Also chucked in the remains of my mangetout packet, approx 20 seeds. Planted a double row of Kelvedon wonder.
Lastly I positioned the canes for my borlotti beans, which I now need to get started off in loo rolls, that leaves a small space in the pea and bean plot of the lottie for some dwarf french beans which are earmarked for early May.
Got to jump in the shower now as have a 50th birthday party to go to. Isn't it irritating when socialising gets in the way of the lottie!!!Are y'oroight booy?

Planted maincrop potatoes in recycling bins today, and salad potatoes in bags.
Planted asparagus crowns into a massive bag - only planted 3 out of the 5 - they looked pretty sad to be honest, and I'm not convinced they will do much.
Put up the seed tray shelf in my greenhouse and transferred some of the seed trays up there.
Earthed up the the early potatoes in the greenhouse - the leaves are over the top of the bags and I earthed up to about 10cm below the top of the bags.
Planted out runner bean and french beans into a trough with canes in my greenhouse for an early crop.
Sowed a few more pepper and chilli seeds to replace those that got frazzled in the heat the other week.
Taken broad beans, sweet peas and peas out of the coldframe to plant out at end of week.
Moved the blueberry bush pots from behind the greenhouse to down by the shed where they will stay for the summer.
We're going away for the week tomorrow until Friday so I've got to hope it all survives.
Think that's about it.Likac66

Went out to the castle garden again today - an extra day's work - and spent 6 hours with tractor and mini-digger excavating and carting lovely topsoil from the forest plantation to the fancy new raised beds out the back of his parents house - which are now filled.Rat

Finally got to dig up the rogue Arran Pilot/Home Guard spud from last year that appeared in what will be my sweetcorn bed. Transferred it carefully to a new potato bag.
Divided my Lobelia plants and have made quite a few little pots. Did some earlier in the week and they look good so have tried some more.
I sowed them a while ago and they produced nice sized mounds in the module so taking a chance on splitting the bunch into two.

Took my Nanaji (ma hobbit's dad) to the plot. He is nearly 80, and registered blind; so was escorted slowly by my Aunty Santosh. Had merely mentioned to him, that I had a plot. His eyes lit up, as lots of bollywoods when they first came over in the 60's did a lot of GYO in their back gardens. Ma regales me on a daily basis. He has decided he would like a garden party there, and that I can grow what I like. I ask him about growing red cabbage. His response was to to just throw the seed. It really, genuinely made my day.
In other news, all bar the hooligan and astia squashes have died in the wendy house. To check on them was the real reason for going to the plot! Alas, have resown.
