Not alot done coz I cant find my snorkel and flippers.... but I did quickly wander round the garden and discovered shoots in my spud bag! Hoorah!!! I thought after 3 weeks, then spending another week permanently soaked they were done for.

As they were already getting leggy in the propagator, I
Potted on my Courgette “de Nice” (round) seedlings
Potted on my Marrow “Bush Baby” seedlings
Potted on my Venlo Pickling cucumbers seedlings
(I know I should have sown these in small pots to avoid root disturbance, but completely forgot…we will see if they survive!!)
Sorted and graded (binned many!!) some of my Onion Sets for planting tomorrow (weather permitting)I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives....

nice weather for a change, hurrah!
I dug over one of the 3ft x 6 ft beds, sowed peas, broad beans(abit later, I know!), fat carrots and swiss chard. Also planted some more seed tatties as they were half price and I had another spud bag anyway.
Repotted my strawberries and also my tomato and cornflower seedlings.
Made some cat grass planters which are germinating in the bedroom, so hopefully the beasts dont eat my posh plants! Also planted up a 42l trug with dwarf conifers, heathers and ivy which looks smashing outside my back door.

Soaking wet again today: my coat kept me dry but my feet and hair were drenched, not pleasant
- managed to finally get the parsnip sown (Gladiator, chitted)
- pulled out the winter radish, didn't really like it: a shame, because it grew really well
- potted on the overwintered pelargoniums which have been flowering for weeks now
- seaweed fed all the toms & beans in the ghAll gardeners know better than other gardeners." -- Chinese Proverb.

Weeded Shallots, Carrots, Beetroot, Pak choi and Turnip.
Watered the leeks and will be potting them on at the weekend.
Impressed at the rate the pak choi are putting on growth they have almost doubled in size in the past week.

Dug over a bed from last year and loved how easy it was compared to the stuff that wasn't dug over last year. Harvested some more PSB (LOVE the stuff!!) and chard, had a cuppa and a chat with my friends that just got an allotment too. Went home and sowed yin yang beans (thank you ebay!), french and runner beans. Purple runner beans for sowing tomorrow, and too knackered to make a cake tonight lol

Harvested leeks, rhubarb and eggs. Lit woodburner and swapped some seedtrays from one greenhouse to another. The reason being is that because one is higher 10' tapering down to 6' and seed trays placed on a shelf high up have germinated whereas seeds sown in other greenhouse at the same time haven't even broken surface yet. I usually light the woodburner in this greehnouse also, when I'm there, so this little bit of extra heat must have made a difference.

Rained solidly on Satuday and Sunday nornign, but finally got outside on Sunday afternoon. Expected visitors didn't turn up (trying next week instead ) so was able to do some gardening after all!
Moved germinated peas from hot house to cool house to start hardenign off
Took lettuces, spinage and spring onion from cold house to plant out: little gem, catalogna cerbuiatta , yugoslavian red, grandpa admire's butterhead australian looseleaf lettuces. Interesting varation in growing: litle gem the worst but catalogna cerbuiatta , yugoslavian red, grandpa admire's butterhead australian allm ch more successful/vigorous. Little gem were closes to the edge fo the large tray I used: perhaps they in't get so much water?
Spinage was tucan F1 and looked pretty poorly: planted out about 50 white lisborn spring onions. Then watered in (with Nemaslug) added some slug pellets to give the lettuces a chnages while the nemaslug got to work and covered with fleece to keep off cats. Idea is that lettuces will be harvested and followed quickly by french beans.
Also did quite a lot of weeding.
First real harvets of raddishes. I use them as parsnip markers in the same row. Using 3 varieties of raddish, French Breakfast seems to be more successful, both for speed and protecting the parsnips, then cherry belle and last (so far) candela di fuoco (hierloom variety from DT Brown). I will keep patience with these for the moment: they look to grow larger than the others but are certainly slower.
Mowed lawn and also mowed off nettles from the field behind our cottage to add to compost heap. That compost heap is now full and with luck I will find time to turn it a few times this summer so it is rotted enough and then sieve it this autumn ready for winter mulching.
Used dutch hoe to hoe off weeds on terrace. They will go into the plastic bag for perennial weeds and once properly dead onto compost heap. Not sure this is all that good for the hoe, but it certainly is a quicker way of making the backyard look more presentable!
Next week (bank holiday):
plant out leeks
plant out peas
more weeding and clearing
find place for flowers: sunflowers, nastercimms, coprnflowers, pot marigold, sweet peas;
perhaps plant first round of dwarf beans
plant maincrop spuds (trying these in growbags)
Cover early spuds with light excluding membrane to kill weeds
maybe even sow a few more leeks
Also lots of Spring onion (white lisbon)
All planted in seed compost in cells under a thin layer of vermicite in hothouse.
