  • On Sunday I planted out 3 Black beauty courgettes, potted on about 28 tomato plants at various stages, planted up tubs with nasturtiums and sunflowers round the front of the house, potted on 3 cucumbers. I emptied out old strawberry planter, tubs with remains of kale and PSB. I planted up new stacking strawberry tubs with lollo rossa and All Year Round lettuce. Potted on my pepper and chilli plants but they are still so tiny I can't imagine I'm going to have any crop from them this year.

I also set up a new watering system on the other side of my greenhouse invoving a "drippa" system and capillary matting. I've been using this system on one side for about 4 weeks with a good level of success so decided to set up more.

    • Planted 5 comfrey root cuttings that had sprouted leaves, down the side of growtunnel and generally fiddlearsed about a bit.

      • Weightlifting exercise with the watering cans again yesterday. Can't wait to get the Hozelock, but doubtless there'll be a hosepipe ban by then. Found a quite big armpit that I've put in water to root and pot up. I'm glad because I think it's from one of the Black Cherry toms that have been stunted by the Wickes compost.

        • Potted on my Rosemary and Lavender that I'd grown from cuttings then sown more mixed lettuce leaves.

          • Watered the tomatoes. Planted out 6 gherkins, 3 in each builder's buckets. Not sure if that's too many, I've never grown them before. Potted on courgettes with an Italian name that I can't remember. It's on the labels thank goodness. Found a big fat slug on the rootrainers containing my newly bought bra plants. It's had a rare old feed on them. It is now no more and I've put the tray higher up to try and avoid any more damage. This is my last hope for bras.

                • B*gger about the allium leaf miner! Never heard of it before. Hope not to see it here tho.

                  Yesterday I admired my plants.

                    • Today I filled wombat holes under my house yard fences, and sorted the electric fencing around those corners of the yard where it is not totally dog proof anymore. Tomorrow I hope to get the whippersnipper (strimmer) out and go for it!

                      • Started gardening at 6.30am, finished 10.30am. My back and body hates me. But it was for a good cause - finished my last raised bed and my balcony garden is now done and dusted. Except for potting up the eddoes/taro which is going gangbusters - I'll move it from the builders bucket into a potato growbag with that hole-flap on the side that lets you get at the goods. You can see it in the bottom right corner, the tall-ish, big-leaved one.

And talking of seeing, see attached.

Wombat!! - just noticed you're in Australia, but at first, thought you were taking the pee! - please post a pic of a wombat if possible - and I thought they were treelovers, no idea they dug around in the ground.

                              • Planted up another greenhouse with toms and gherkins.Might even stick a few climbing french beans on the gable end. Already have a grapevine at the other end and a peach tree at the end of my other greenhouse.
Planted up the raised bed in one side of my large greenhouse with toms and peppers. Took down shelving I had for peppers last year. Potted on a dozen or so jalapeno's and Bulgarian chilli's which should just about fill my third greenhouse.
