  • Weeded generally and cut back some of willow tree. Checked pond. Pruned dead wood off old of flowering currant, weeded under plum tree, cut topiary balls, planted out lettuces grown inside in box, to outside amongst roses and flowers in second bed, sowed French Breakfast Radish seeds in box lettuces had been in.

    • Chucked in some nasturtium seeds, planted out a few of my indoor-grown peas to fill in some gaps, potted up a standard bay I rescued from Homebase, optimistically moved a few lettuce seedlings.
      March is the new winter.

      • Moved stuff around in the plackytunnel. One day i might actually leave things be. No, i probably won't, at least not until all the pots a planted up. Such a ditherer y'see.

Planted some beans, moved some spuds, made a new area for growing chinese vegetables, cussed a fair bit.
Spelling errors are my area of expertise. Apologies if my jumbled up mind/words cause offence.

        • Weeded a lot; still trying to clear space for the walk in plastic gh that was my free gift with a magazine subscription (No 1 son got me for my b'day). Netted the strawberries to dissuade the birds and ate first strawberry of the year - not really 100% ripe but still ... first strawberry of the year!
Planted some more runner beans - direct into the ground for these ones, the others were started in modules and have wound their way about 2 feet up the poles.

          • Sowed more lettuce, beetroot, peas and some fennel. Sorted out toms in the tunnel and potted up PSB and cabbage. Harvested salad bits for tea tonight. Rain was hammering down but was happy pottering around in the polytunnel

                      • Cut three slugs in half...that'll teach them for killing a sweet pepper seedling!
Tried and Tested...but the results are inconclusive

                        • giving snails flying lessons, staking some broad beans, tying in some toms, optimistically thinking that anything Ive staked and tied in will even grow enough to benefit in this weather and watering some oregano and fennel (they are hiding in the cloche!).

                          • Trimmer had charged up well, so cut front hedge - see? Compare my hedge cutting - which still leaves the hedge thick, thriving and ‘compact’ with the guys she got in next door - who cut it a little low, thin and now it looks spacey and weedy.
Hauled out loads of bindweed from Fuschia bush, so now there’s a big hole in part of it facing house. Pulled up some weeds from gravel on front drive and found that garden bag indispensable! HOW have I managed with bin liners so far?!
Need to go back with trimmer or pruners and prune a couple of bits from base of hedge, but otherwise looks good, looks ‘cared for’ but still a good height for privacy J
Yellow flowers on snapdragons! And first flower on indoor sweet peas!
Think I will move snapdragons around to the front for a change

sat and looked at garden waste - though about going to tip, thought about price of more garden pop up bags (on sale!!) rather than struggling with bin liners...drank tea, wasted time, drank tea, wasted time - sat around a bit more lol

                            • So windy had to tie all outdoor toms to poles, they were bending over. Noticed lots more flowers on peas, toms and courgettes, but lettuce eaten by slugs or birds

I knew having a lizard that eats snails was an advantage!
