  • Sent two slugs into the light with my scissors of mass destruction.
Looked at all my plants quite happily growing without need of my intervention.
    Got sunburned shoulders again.
Tried and Tested...but the results are inconclusive

    • Uncovered my new fruit forest........well, it's a start! They are looking good - still standing. Wind is picking up now so will see how they manage. Need to put some shade cloth on the fence for wind and summer sun protection.

          • Cleared an area of seeded leeks from last year and weeds. Planted 5 brussel sprouts plants and 2 red cabbage plants in said area.
Hand weeded newly planted raspberries as I didn't want to break off new shoots forming next years canes.

Had a poorly chook who's eyes were closed and she was hardly breathing, just lying in the rain sodden run.. I had to show her a bit of mercy and give her a quick end. Sounds callous I know but I chopped her head off with an axe.
Lit the woodburner in the greenhouse and disposed of the carcase.
Noted that a few of my carrots have germinated. As I've sowed 5 packets 12 days ago I hope I get a good few more germinating this next week.

            • Went a-slugging down the lottie, and found a lot more than I was expecting, given that I've been finding very few recently. Oh well, at least they're not there nibbling on my lettuces now. Also found a baby slowworm- only the second slowworm I've seen on my plot; good to know they're around and breeding!

Dug up the first few spuds, then muttered obscenities at the bird who nicked what should have been my first courgette of the season, pecked most of the skin off, then dumped the centre in one of the currant bushes. Cheeky little beggar.

Also planted a few spare chard and perpetual spinach seeds out, weeded around the strawberries, planted some baby garlic chives, bought as supermarket salad plants for 39p- worth a shot- and re-staked my mulberry as it was really not liking the wind.

Really need to plant out the rest of my toms and squash, come on sun!

              • I tidied up, weeded a little and sowed probably my last lot of seed (winter cauliflower, cabbage, some cottage garden flowers and salad leaves).

I also took some pictures and updated my blog, you can see my pictures here:

                • Bought some nematodes online as I found two of my new romansecue broccoli seedlings munched almost completely. Thankfully I have a couple of spares in my blow-away if they don't survive.

Went slug and snail catching at dusk - found quite a few big ones happily marching across my beds - gave them free salt water swimming lessons, but they don't seem to be getting the hang of it yet.

Found a huge snail inside my blow-away, thankfully he hadn't found the peppers and aubergine plants on the top shelf as yet. Gave him a squash with a brick - no way do I want it to come back.

Apart from that, sat and watched the rain ........ again

                  • Yesterday - potted on some tomatoes and outdoor cucumbers - wanted to put the latter down the plot, but the weather has been so windy and wet don't think they are ready for it yet ... poor babies.

Sunday morning is supposed to be better. Hope so.

Planted my peppers into the border even though they are les than an inch high!

Oh, nearly forgot, i planted out some yellow flageolot beans also!

                        • I planted out strawberries into their new raised bed on the allotment. We weeded the potato patch and earthed them up. My courgette is four centimeters and is still there and has 3 sisters forming.

                          • Planted courgette plants out through holes in the cardboard on the plot. Possibly too late for them but we will see what happens.

Dug another bed sized area over ready for something else to go, maybe phacelia for now as not sure what I have that could go in yet.

                            • - finally got trays & trays of flowers out in the garden. It's been too cold/wet/windy up until now
                              - planted up hanging baskets, about a month late
                              - tied in the toms which are going mad
