  • Weeded the herb garden. Mowed 1/4 of the yard till the mower said enough. Whippersnipped 1/2 yard. Marked out the new bigger veg garden. Marked out the new bigger herb and veg garden. Chocked up the gap the new dog has been getting out of (now he's found somewhere else!)
    Watered all the tub plants.
    Made lots of plans.

    • - went up the school plot for the first time in 3 wks: weeds not too bad, but blueberries dead from drought
      - chopped up alfalfa & comfrey as a mulch
      - collected parsnip seed, and chopped the plant up as mulch
      - I'm mulching everything this year
      - sowed 2 trays of salad, placed trays in the shade
      - watered & fed the squashes & beans
      - cut lots of foliage off the tomatoes again
      - repotted all my new hedging plants (hebe)
      - fed & watered school beds & pots
      - continued cutting lower leaves off the black bamboos

            • Today is not like before but have repotted a few things as they have finished. Weather has not helped crops but seemed to get a very good crop form the French beans and also a few seed beans.

Highlight was picking chillis Fairy lights is a brilliant variety and very colourful! Quite hot when they turn red though!!

                  • Today I went to the Southport Flower Show for the first time. I wanted to buy so much!
There are so many gorgeous flowers.

I took a few piccies but here are the veggie ones (not much there appertaining to 'growing your own' though)...

I bought a few flowers too but now I can't for the life of me remember the names

                      • About half an hour ago planted out the kale, surrounded with grit sprinkled with salt. They are healthy looking plants now I've grown them on, I've hesitated long enough to risk the snugs I hope. Keep your fingers crossed.

                            • Lifted my rubbish celery and put it in the compost bin, dug over the bed in the rain (even although the forecast was dry and overcast with sunny intervals.........aye right)

                              Weeded the celeriac bed.
Harvested some goodies for my Stepson, who very kindly brought his petrol strimmer to the plot and done my paths, poor soul was soaked through.
Came home, dried off and had a yummy dinner of Pork with my own potatoes, cabbage and broccoli drenched in gravy.

                              • Cleared out massively overgrown border full of flowery things that I don't know what they are (but inludes nettles, bindweed and lots of snails). Will cover over next weekend with light excluding membrane.

A little bit of weeding, but lots more needed. Crushed cabbage white catterpillers and eggs. Watered potted softfruit, tomatos and cucumbers. Picked cucumbers, tomatos and softfruit. And also dug some not quite so new potatos and picked french beans. Courgettes taking over the garden triffid style. The recent sun seems to have put them into overdrive. Tomatos covered in blight of course.

Gearing up to process red cabbage - am quite pleased with these but we will need to cook loads and freeze and probably also make pickled cabbage too.

Picked (wild) blackberries which we ate with pancakes for breakfast.
