    • - despaired at the state of the Wildlife Garden: it's as if I never started on it. Grass & docks 5ft high. I pulled out and chopped up what I could, I think the rest of it will be under cardboard for the rest of the year.

      - stole a load of cardboard from Tesco
      - re-edged my lawn, so that it's circular again
      - clipped back my tatty hebe that I hate, but the sparrows like
      - topped the dog-poo compost bin off with a final layer of grass clippings, and started a new one

      • Spent 20 minutes outside this morning weeding and picking toms and corgettes (7 big ones from 4 plants since Sunday.)

Picked lettuce last night to have home grown salad with cucumbers and tomatos.

              • Tipped out a potato grow bag on top of a bed I'm planning for bras'. Checked the kale, a couple of leaves demolished already by the snugs, hope that's an end to it. The snug onslaught, not the kale.

                  • Well it were yesterday not today, and I didn't do all of it...........does that still count?

Found some berry canes - think wild blackberry down at the pumping site, so brought some home to plant. Dug out three fruit trees, son dug out one. Then son planted all 4 in the new fruit garden, I planted the berries, and also a couple of bits of the jostaberry that the dogs 'pruned' when they were jumping at the fence. Looking much more respectable out there now with all the trees.

Planted the trees into mounds so we can add hay and compost and mulch all around them and build the soil up in that area. Need to put some small swales in to hold the water up there more and direct in slowly thru the area. But that's another day. Now I have some gaps in my house plantings and need some things to go in there!

                    • I was thinking you were all pretty slack today when this thread wasn't on the front page........then again you've probably all been asleep!

Not me! Today I had to paint the stumps, facing boards and end boards of the decking so I could plant two grape vines! One ornamental, one green seedless. Lot of work to just plant 2 plants!

Then watered and mulched the new fruit section. Need to work out how to get some water to the far side of it now as well. Son whippersnipped the back fence line, and we finished pumping water so we'll be right for a couple of weeks again. Feeling pretty tired and have a sore back. Doesn't take much these days to set it off.

Tomorrow planning to finish some more of the decking, and replant a whole pile of red hot pokers.
One of our eucalypt's has died. There were 3 in a row, it was going great then suddenly looked half dead so I pruned it hard and it started to come back again really well. Dead again now! Do you think it might be ants? Only thing we can think of.

                          • The weight of green tomatoes on my plants collapsed the vines.Luckily they weren't snapped off completely so I applied tourniquets to them in various places and managed to save my crop.
Did quite a bit of weeding, seperating out the docks and dandelions for the chooks and the rest were composted.
Harvested some tatties before the rats got a chance to dig them up.

Now we have a waiting list of three people at the allotments decided to put names and dates allotment was requested on the notice board so there could be no 'tampering' with the waiting list and all dealings were above board.
