    • Broke the ice on the birdies water bowl and topped it up. That's about it so far today. It will be mostly spent cuddling the poochies, drinking coffee and reading.
When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it.
If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.

      • I brought my chooks home. Son informed me that the new garden beds are not great. The dirt we got is just not nice. Will need to work on that. But last years bed is awesome so the seedlings will be going into that tomorrow.
Some green manure should fix the others I think.

              • Planted 52 Snowball onion sets in modules (shame really as I then found that they are at the bottom of the Which recommendations list)
Planted 52 teeny weeny ocas - most of them smaller than a pea - in modules - just to see what happens next
Its below freezing outside but no snow

                  • Well I need a 'what I didn't do today as well!'
I didn't mow, so I couldn't fill up the water butto make comfrey tea, as I need to mow where it's going first. I didn't take photos of the new chooks because the camera has gone psycho.
I didn't plant the seedlings because it was pretty hot in the middle of the day, and I've been busy ever since with daughter and Le Spot and Le Maybe New Owner.
                    Dinner is organised.
I did plant up the lettuce seedlings into a cardboard container that some appliance came in. It's for a friend who has just bought her first house. Wanted to give her the first veg for her garden. I should prob have tried to strike some herbs as well, but hey.

                    • Today I spent an hour freezing in my shed. The wind blew the door shut and managed to also slide the bolt across.

I was halfway through taking the window out when my mate arrived to rescue me.

                      • Bought an 'Ojebyn' blackcurrant at the local Factory Shop. It was only £2, smelling fragrant and sprouting lots of nice green leaves, so I couldn't resist. Has anyone else bought these cheapo plants and is it worth it? They had goosegogs too, which was similarly tempting.

                        • woke up to snow, but the sun came out and i planted about 50 peas in the plot which had sprouted in water over 7 days. planted soldier beans just 12 into modules in GH, sowed lettuce seed and celariac seed and noticed big pot of leeks just poking through.

                          • Potted on some chillies and aubergines, Cut back the brambles from the bank - I don't mind it growing back as it is stopping the bank engulfing the house!
Cut back the ornamental grasses and pampas flower heads.

                            • Potted on some tomatoes - deep
Filled the vacant spaces in the modules with rainbow chard seeds.
Planted a rooted celery stalk into a pot.
Brought a bag of compost into the kitchen to warm up - swept up kitchen floor after spilling some.
No snow but bitterly cold wind. The temperature barely climbed above freezing - its minus 1 at the moment

                              • Went to the plot, think I lost the plot more like!!!
Bloomin freezing it was. So all I managed to do was take apart a pallet. Done inside the poly, thank goodness! Didn't get any seeds sown though!
