Bought some ericacious compost to pot up my blueberry. Went to lotty where 20 eggs were awaiting my collection (2 days worth) Also bought a small pot of about twenty scented sweet peas to pot on for £1.49 from GC.
Harvested carrots and swedes for Sunday dinner. Had a bit of a yabber with another plotholder about outrageous plot rents and freezing weather.
Went home and only used the fresh carrots (Unbelievable the differnce in taste to shop bought carotts!) Aldi were selling asparagus tips cheaply so used these as the other veg. Bit tasteless but nice texture! My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order
to present to him vegetables and all beautiful flowers.- Offerings of Thutmose III to Amon-Ra (1500 BCE)

Sowed cranberry seeds that have been in the fridge, chilling out, since Chr***mas. Also some intact cranberries to see whether extracting the seeds makes any difference to germination.
Planted some Thai garlic cloves and a galangal root.
All done in the kitchen as the temperature hasn't risen about freezing all day. Brrrrrrrr!!

Woke up all in good spirits and eager to get to the lottie, opened the door and was met with -2 (wind chill of nearly -10) temperature and thought 'sod that', closed the door and started doing cross stitch instead.http://theallotmentplot.weebly.com/index.html

Potted on my passionfruit plant, but I think it's on it's way out. Will bring it in tonight and hope it revives.
Watered the lettuce for a new home owner (house warming pressie) watered some broccoli seedlings, but they are very leggy so will plant them tomorrow and hope for the best.
Did some more cooking to freeze. Praying for rain.Ali

One bit of old folklore wisdom says to plant tomatoes when the soil is warm enough to sit on with bare buttocks. In surburban areas, use the back of your wrist. Jackie French

Went to the garden centre and spent MORE money on seeds... but then again I'm sure it's a good idea to try different varieties
Sowed cucumbers: Cucino and Burpless. Sowed tommies: Vilma and Torenzo.
Moved one tray of leek seedlings from windowsill to shed. Cucs are in heated propagator in shed now and tommies are on kitchen windowsill.
