  • Another pallet taken apart today. Burnt some rubbish and sowed some self saved flower seeds from a neighbours plot (yes, had permission! ) Don't know what they are, but when they flower will get her to tell me the varieties and names.
Going to put my seed box in order as I dropped it and everything was mixed up. So will see what's what and hopefully sow some seeds next time I go, in trays and modules in the polytunnel.

    • Very little gardening lately due to the extreme cold and snowyness, but I did manage to put together my new walk-in blowaway (carefully anchored to the fence and weighted with bags of compost!!). It is of course empty as it's too cold to put anything in it yet...!

ETA..and accidentally ordered some more seeds! Since I have the blowaway, I thought I should try some cucumbers..!

      • Put my tomato seedings into small pots instead of the jiffy plugs now they are looking a bit bigger and filled the kitchen windowsill...
Now acquired some iceberg lettuce seeds and also spring onions so time to start on those :-)

Just waiting for the wife to get home and say OMG!!

        • More digging out for the greenhouse base. I'm pretty much down to the chalk now.

Harvested some brussels for lunch and salad leaves for tea.

          • Aargh - it's still snowing here.

As comedian Carl Reiner put it: “A lot of people like snow. I find it to be an unnecessary freezing of water.”

            • I picked up the seeds from the post office, does that count? And cooked some more

I'm not allowed back into the garden till I do the office it's not going to be pretty!

              • What I did YESTERDAY was add horse manure to my 'doing nothing' compost heap. Also two car loads of wood chippings from the tree clearance due to last years' forest fire. Today the heap is REALLY hot

All you could get in your car for €10 (about £8.50). Challenge accepted; two hefty-bags and 15 75L horse feed bags. Filled estate car, rear seats down, to the ceiling! No suspension, but damn that stuff is good!

                My back hurts.

                • Put shallots (Red Sun) out in the ground (under Cloches), sowed some Tri beetroot into individual cells, dug over some of bed 2, planted out some sets of red onion, sowed some Lolo Rosa seeds into cells, added some more broad bean rolls (toilet roll tubes) to the other 11 that have started coming through.

                  • Took delivery of 2 apple trees, a peach tree and 2 tayberries. Looked at the outside temperature (2C) and put them in the GH in the hope that it warms up a bit.
Went into garden to decide where to plant the apple trees. So many trees already - why do I keep buying more?
Had Eureka moment! Why have a chicken run (approx 10' x 40') when I don't have chooks Starting removing the fence but grown through with brambles and raspberry canes. However, once removed I'll be able to use the fence posts to stake the apple trees Sorted!!!
Had a good day outside despite the cold. Started to snow about 5.30 so headed back inside for a jacket potato the size of Wales

                              • - saw my first client (who is actually a mate), chatted to her about raised veg beds
                                - turned her dalek composter with her
                                - sorted her out some free starter plants out of my stash
                                - took another 3 buckets of seaweed up the plot, left on beds as a mulch
                                - the cornflowers are up on the bedroom windowsill (under clingfilm), at last! Moved to gh
                                - sowed more pretties on the bedroom windowsill, under clingfilm
