  • Sowed squashes - butternut, spaghetti, Japanese, golden Hubbard, chestnut bush, crown prince.
    Sowed melons and cucumbers.

Prepped ground for haricot beans, currently back indoors overnight as it's still too cold. May stay out again tomorrow night.

Cleared part of one bed just to break up the mole runs. It'll be courgettes this year.

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it.
If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.

      • Yesterday I planted my potato onions, leek seedlings to grow on, WSB plants, also the Sutherland Kale. Chipped the paths that I thought had been chipped on Sunday...no!

          • Yesterday I took my clippers with me and took some cuttings off deciduous trees I want, all the way home
Today washed spiders out of pots - eeeek, huntsmen hiding in them! Potted up about 30 pots in total. Hope some of them take. The farm should be more colourful and I'll have loads of leaf litter to improve the soil Was glad that narky little policeman didn't pull me up tho with all that herbage in the back of the car - They're community trees officer! And I'm part of the community!

              • Mostly did weeding today, and looked happily at the teeny parsnips, rocket, spinach, onions and beetroot that have finally decided to appear with the warm.

Now I just need to keep on top of the slugs...

Planted a few more pumpkins at home- look at my proprogator if you want to know why they're called squash

                • Fed the daleks with grass clippings and shredded paper.

Planted lots and lots of summer flowering bulbs as per wishful thinking.

                  • Mowed half the lawn with help of daughter and grandchildren

Potted on Cavalo de Nero, sowed too many courgettes, and put various beans to chit.

                    It's proper muggy out there.

                        • Took the squash that have germinated out of the propagator and put them on the window sill, is it just me or does anyone else get excited about how fast they germinate.

                            • Raked over the plot that OH rotovated last night. Put the last straggly bits of seaweed onto the compost heap.

Then started to cut back the fourth bed of willows. Managed to get half way across. Need to complete that and one other bed and then they are done. I'm cutting them back to force them to make more branches at the bottom and create a thicker wind break. Saving the whips to push into the ground in other areas of the garden.

                              • Popped to the allotment briefly to water. I can finally see a few pea shoots coming through so the mice didn't get them all. Birds keep pulling up the onion sets and I keep shoving them back in.
At home the summer PSB are coming through nicely and I have finally seen some leeks peeping through in the pots.

                                It's all looking good.
