    • - created a 10ft bee-friendly bed for my Master Gardener 'client' and filled it with flowering plants from my own garden
      - stuffed her chopped up woody bits down the back of a fatsia (good habitat for beneficial beetles)
      - planted out the first batch of pumpkins on the lotty
      - the leeks have bolted, so chopped 'n' dropped them, and planted sweetcorn in their place
      - fed the flowering peas & broadies with Lotty Tea (a fine blend of comfrey, weeds & slugs)
      - emptied some of 2011's leafmould sacks: brilliant crumbly stuff, so brought some home to use as potting compost. There are another dozen sacks to go yet
      - planted out a few trays of lupins & cornflowers in my 'blue' front garden
      - continued chucking out wet sultanas for the blackbirds: first baby spotted early evening
      - did a check for lily beetle, found & crushed another 6 of the little monsters
      - checked for aphids on the rose buds: not too many, so left them for the sparrows & ladybirds to eat
      - started a new painting (a beehive) ... I'm doing 'flowers & gardens' now, no more birds for a while

      - had a long chat with one of the lotty ladies, who's been there 30 years, and also suffered harassment from the same man/men who are now targeting me. They also turned on a previous plotter, mainly because he didn't plant in straight lines & he wouldn't join their Tea Club (women aren't even invited to the Tea Club, and any man who declines is forever shunned by them. They are 60 year old playground bullies

      • Nice warm night here last night so pottered on at the allotment until it got dark. Managed to get a couple of beds weeded, tickled over and planted.
Planted a few onion plants, some beetroot grown in modules and direct sowed two kinds of french beans..........yellow and green.
As always, the chooks were grateful for the weeds I gave them. Rather than compost them i put them through a chook first!

        • Went out and bought a cute apple compost crock so now I can have one for my compost bin and one for the councils.

Dug over and area and planted out six sweetcorn, the other 2 decided not to grow but I have planted some more, they will just have to catch up. Need to find a home on the other side of the garden for my other variety.

Watered everything in my greenhouse, planted up sweet peas, checked on gooseberries.

Tied in climbers, tidied up some weeds

          • Planted my remaining bee friendly plants into the rings around the fruit trees, up in the orchard bit. Cleaned out the chooks and painted the bargain summerhouse. Planted Chris's welsh poppy up by Tansy's gravestone. Looks lovely - thanks Chris.
Had chooks out and they pecked down all the woodland edge weeds - cleavers, fat hen, chickweed and dandelions. Shooed them away from the forget me knots and campion though

            • A home gardening day today, my aim is to have planted out all the plants I have in pots into the garden before I leave the country in August. To that end I put up chicken wire along the long border to keep the girls out, and then planted in my Daphne and Deep Secret rose from mother's day pressies. I also planted out the dahlias that I started off in pots in the greenhouse and a variety of other flowers. I also planted the daffodils and snowdrops that I'd had in containers into the garden for next year.
I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!

              • Finished clearing perennial weeds from an allotment bed that I started a couple of weeks ago.
Saw that every last lettuce has now succumbed to the slugs, along with most of my caulis that I planted last week.
Put all the slugs from under the brassica collars (about 25 of them) into a bucket with some water some greens and a lid. Maybe one of them is sick and I can breed me some nematodes.
Did some serious chopping back of long grass and weeds around the planted beds, fewer slug hiding places that way.
Took the fleece off my carrots to weed and found there were no carrots only weeds. I'm guessing damping-off in the cold weather. Probably re-sow tomorrow when I've stopped sulking.

                • Lots done at the lottie...

Planted Evesham sprouts and renetted the brassica bed.
Lashed canes between the rose arches for the runner beans.
                  Planted 24 shallots.
Planted 3 sweet peppers in polytunnel.
Planted 3 trailing courgettes (tondo) round a cane support.
Planted 2 winter dumpling squash round a cane support.
Dug out some nettles and other big weeds near the apple tree and planted two pumpkins in their place.
Harvested radishes and did some general weeding.
Put the runner and French beans and sweetcorn into a sheltered spot to start to harden them off.

Collected THREE eggs from the girls today, meaning all three are now laying.

                    • Strimmed the parameter paths
Gave the plot a good water
Put up a net for my peas to climb up
Sown some carrots, beetroot, peas, various beans and also planted out some tomato plants.

This was the plot at 8 this evening:

                      • Our allotment site had a bring and buy sale this morning, so went along and bought some tomato plants. Going to grow two in the blowaway and 3 outside.
Also went to Poundland and bought 3 tomato grow bags (very big!) and two buckets to use as plant pots. Made holes in bucket bottoms with hot screwdriver as seen on another post on here.
Potted up a courgette plant into one of the tomato grow bags - took forever to fill it, it's huge!
Strimmed the grass around the lottie.
                        Potted on 3 cucumbers.
                        Thinned the radishes.
                        Weeded.
Gardening is cheaper than therapy and you get tomatoes

                        • Potted on some tomatoes in the greenhouse. Went to the plot and planted out my Brussels plants in the new raises bed and sowed some broccoli seeds. Dug part of a new potato bed (very late I know). Had a wander around the patch and chatted to people about why everyone else had netting over everything. Rabbits! Went to builders yard for pipe and Wilkos for netting!

Planted out some parsnips in toilet rolls
Planted out some celeriac in pots
                            Potted on some squash
