    • Spent at least half an hour grumbling about the catterpillars that have devastated my Offenham cabbages - and they were covered - little buggers, takes only a week of failing to check! I then tried my best to look on the bright side, I really wanted to find a spot for Spring Greens so I shall be sowing them in the space this evening! I then spent some time wondering what's wrong with my carrots that just seem to be dying and I'm now worrying about my parsnips, hoping they won't do the same thing. I'm also annoyed about my spouts that have bolted and my PSB that for some reason has sprouted now and not next year as planned!? Sorry, this morning has not been a good morning, but I have got a good amount of Kale for tea and plently of Greyhound cabbages that haven't been munched so there is a plus side!

        • Managed to water the outdoor tomatoes, despite a bad back. Lots of toms, all of them green, apart from the Minibell, they're ripening up fast.

              • Fed the tomatoes with comfrey tea. Watered the veg in containers, the pumpkin patch and fed and watered the stayput.

                • Planted out second batch of mitsuba - first lot have gone to seed already even tho still tiny. Had a bit of a tidy up around the edges of the plot. Bedded in some strawberry runners that I had missed (was going to chop them all off, but can't waste them!)

                  • Pricked out pansies, potted on some chillies I'd missed in the back of the stayput. Rejuvinated a bucket of mint and transferred some of the roots to another container.

                    • Just tried to use a £7.50 discount code on a brassica collection at Marshalls, but not valid for the offer - so, I have sown three different sorts of cabbage seed and All Year Round cauli. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, nothing spent. I suppose it's far too late for PSB - the plants I have look like lace curtains

                        • Potted on Fennel. Two of the plant have been totally zapped by snugs. Didn't think they'd like aniseed.

                            • yesterday

                              watered everything thoroughly
tidied up raised beds, pulled up woody radishes and gone to seed rocket. Picked bolted lettuces and used leaves.
weeded and planted spinach, lettuce, kale , radish and pak choi seeds for baby leaves.

trussed up tomatoes and pinched growing tips out of beans.

                              pulled up loads of bindweed

water flower pots and deadheaded them.

sat out with glass of wine and laptop until it got dark!

                              • Lifted my onions grown from sets. Hoed the bed off and raked off weeds. Purposely won't dig bed as i have PSB waiting in the wings and they prefer consolidated alkaline soil. I'll probably give the bed a dressing of magnesium limestone at planting time.
Calabrese are just about finished so will pillage the netting and hoops from this bed to put over the old onion bed before planting PSB.
With the calabrse uncovered the pigeons will think all there birthdays have come at once!

PS Still no sign of the Japanese overwinternig onion sets appearing in GC. Tried Troy for the first time last year so will use these again if they become available.
