I got my grow light garden this time last year and found it much better for starting seedlings than my old method of using a windowsill, where seedlings became bent and leggy very quickly. I used it for various plants such as lettuces, cabbages, peas, tomatoes, peppers etc, and it was on every day from February when it arrived until August. Another advantage is that you can leave the light on for a few hours longer than daylight, so along with a warmer temperature the plants can be fooled into "thinking" it is spring. I'm currently leaving mine on from about 8am to 8pm.
