      • Started clearing a new bed but it was too wet so weeded some existing beds instead.
Bought some Sturon onion sets from the allotment shop and put them in.
Took some pics for the Calendar thread.

          • Well, up to allotment shop, (first opening opt the year on our plots), purchased 3, 75L of MPC + some rotted horse manure, used immediately on e's beds, on top of chippings, home made compost, and the Asda MPC, bought yesterday .

Pulled up and composted kale, was still ok, but the white fly still present, so tis gone!

Also chucked some cabbage, pigeons been nibbling and not doing v well, tis gone!

Barrowed at least 6 loads of wood chippings to area where next bed is gonna go, pretty wet so this should help.

Horse manure on area, where intend to grow courgettes this year.

Picked some of the 'possible comfrey' and put it in flower bucket with water to see if it 'smells'.

Spoke to friends and neighbours re 'get together '. Was asked put for curry, sadly unable to go tonight, cos of hubby's food poisoning

            Made fish pie.

              • Started converting my trampoline into a seat by setting it up around an oak tree, and weaving newly coppiced hazel from the garden, around the base.

                • Busy day! VERY busy day!

Went to B&Q for supplies. Came back with 2 x 120L MPC, 3 x 50L Ericaceous compost, 1 x 50L bark chippings, and 1 x 20L seed compost. Neighbour came with me and brought back a load of goodies for his home and garden too.

Went to the neighbour's on the right and did more disposal work on the laurel tree we cut down a while back. Much hacking, chopping, sawing and trimming. Filled another two green waste wheelie bins with foliage, and put aside all the hefty wood for logging up later.

Went to the neighbours on the left, and helped him clear out all his raised flower beds. Expired bedding plants, perennials, bushes - everything. Back to a blank canvas. Helped him get a load of gladioli bulbs in, put a load of anemone in to soak for him to plant tomorrow (first of three installments)

Back to my garden, and repotted 3 x Leucothoe Zeblids, 3 Pink Lemonade Blueberries, and 3 Checkerberry shrubs (that's 2.1/2 bags of the Ericaceous compost gone that I bought today). Ripped down and disposed of a garden "tidy" that I'd built out of a destroyed blowaway greenhouse, although I did salvage some of the parts for an experimental racking thingy - now assembled and in position.

Moved the patio furniture, re-sited my Medlar, Blueberries, and Elder. Repotted and sited my Barberis and Lemon Balm, and pruned the Lemon Balm and Pineapple Mint. Mounted two of my gas lamps in their final position on the fence, and temporarilly wired a couple of others to the fence so they were out of the way. Tried to site my solar lamp posts - failed (unstable) - needs a rethink. Finally managed to assemble a rough template layout for all the main plants I currently have

Chinese takeaway - crispy shredded chilli beef and Singapore fried rice.

Pricked out and potted up seedlings: Dahlia Yams (4), Queensland Arrowroot (4), and one each of Wonderberry, Golden Pearls, and a teeny weeny ikkle Inca Berry seedling (looks like the James Wong seeds for these do work after all). Helped my neighbour repot a load of houseplants

Consumed alcohol and watched DVD's. A very worthwhile day

                  • Yesterday, went to the plot at about 11.30 am. Mr Q is in hospital and is not very well at all so I needed to be busy but doing something where I don't have to concentrate too much. Digging, forking, barrowing. Planted out my strawberry plants; Site Manager took pity on me and helped me build a raised bed for said strawberries (he hammered in nails in the scaffolding boards). Forked over half the onion bed - do the rest this morning. They have moved hubby to ITU, anxious times, I need to be doing otherwise I think too much.

                        • Cut the grass for the first time this year, as it seems it's going to rain on and off for the rest of the week. The ground was a bit wet but I couldn't stand the shaggy uneveness any more. There are quite few wild flowers in there (well, weeds really) that haven't started to grow yet, so there were towering tufts of grass and low flat bits of speedwell and violets and moss.

Also transplanted some limnanthes that had self-seeded among the cyclamen and were smothering them. Some I had to just yank out 'cos the cyclamen have become so thickly packed now, so they have two chances. They can either grow, or do the other thing, as my grandad used to say.

                          • Ached and groaned after yesterdays heavy lifting. Needed an easier day today. Did a little bit of shuffling about of pots to get the strawberry planters in a sensible place without causing knock-on problems. Topped off a few of the tree planters with bark chippings. Took a couple of piccies.

                              • Bonfire day today. Clean up carp and burn it. Didn't realise how much carp I had, will have to have another bonfire day before end of March which is our last burning day at the allotments.

Took some sprouts home for sunday dinner.
