Dug, dug and dug a bit more.. Removed 2 bin bags of horsetail root and laid out several beds. Planted the rest of my raspberry canes so I've got 10 all together and planted 15 strawberry plants - some plants from my neighbour, some small plants from b&q and some bare root from Aldi. I wonder which will do best!?
I bought some flower seeds for my flower border - ox eye daisy, lupin, fox gloves etc.. Lots of bee friendly stuff.
was on the allotment between 10 and 3 and oh my I ache! Hard work!

Frame of greenhouse erected today! We ran out of nuts and bolts so couldn't finish it, but it looks the right shape and even has one pane of glass in! Oh, happy days!
Also dug lots of couch grass roots out from around the Bramley apple tree, where I'd lifted the plastic sheet (fed up of having to keep rearranging it after the badgers pulled it off every night!).
Beautiful sunny day, t-shirt weather even! Me and the other half both have rosy cheeks this evening, not sure if sunburn or tiredness or a mixture, but feels good to have been out all dayGardening is cheaper than therapy and you get tomatoes

Started winning the greenhouse battle missing 16 panels of glass . Went home frustrated again was chatting to my next door neighbour turned out he had 12 twin wall polycarbonate between his sheds with fiddling about and cutting I have exactly enough I think minus 4 cm which in going to replace with a strip of wood the polycarbonate isn't completely clear but begets can't be choosers and it may actually stop plants getting scalded

Had an actually productive day today; got another two beds ready for planting, mulched the currants with some rotten bark chippings (barrowed from the heap on the other side of the massive site, with a dodgy wheelbarrow), weeded, weeded, weeded, moved the snowdrops that had appeared in a silly place to a sensible place, dug over a big section of what will be the main area of beds on plot B (apparently the neighbour was growing bindweed and in that bit, as well as bamboo. It's taking ages, but I'm now over halfway), trimmed the grass around the edges of the beds, picked some WSB and other bits, and sat and drank tea.
Phew.
Hopefully I'll finally be up to speed on the plot by the end of the week, after being way behind all winter!

Today, thanks to a number of comments I've read on these forums, I went into a 'discount' store - somewhere I'd normally avoid like the plague. I believe it's known as Wilkos to those who go there often.
Woah... How good was it?!
I was like a kid in a sweet shop and came away with...
20 very long bamboo canes
3 varieties of potato
3 seed trays
1 packet of climbing french beans
1 ball of string
All I've got to do now is prepare some land so that I can make use of my new buys.

Disaster today
Dug the last part of my path, cleared another third of a bin bag of couch grass roots, scraped the trench for my first edging piece of timer for today, set it in place, got my battery powered drill out to drill the pilot holes and screw in the screws . . . . the drill ran for about 1 second then dead ! no difference with the spare battery
Spent the rest of the afternoon planting a few more Broad Beans where the originals hadn't germinated, did some weeding and more stone collecting and dug a little soakaway next to the paved path where the herb bed is going, the idea is to take the runoff from the path and keep the herb bed dry . . .

Had a delivery of strawberry plants from ebay, very much better than the tiny Aldi ones, 20 each of Red Gauntlet, Camb. Favourate, Sonata and Marshmalow
Took them out of the bags and soaked them for a minute before potting them 20 in a bunch per 1L pot...... Only till I get some more compost tomorrow and can plant them in a decent way , just to keep them alive
Planted seeds for 12 each cucumber of marketmore and crystal lemon , 24 each of sweetcorn Blue Hoppi, Bloody Butcher, Rising sun and Golden Bantam
Sunflowers also went into trays today 12 of each of Russian Giant, Claret , Harlequin , Earthwalker, Giant single , Moulin Rouge and Indian Velvet
after that I put some peas to chit, I have never had any luck with them, the mice steal them every time outdoors, so this time its indoor chitting and pots then outsideLiving off grid and growing my own food in Bulgaria.....
