  • Ended up in Dobbies, bought a selection of 6 herbs in pots, for £10.00, and a packet of nasturtiums and tumbling toms.

Or you could put one amongst your Brassicas as a sacrificial plant...........

                    • Walked round the garden looking for things its not too early to do. Decided to move the dustbin full of logs out of the compost bin and into the garage, and the empty dustbin thats got a split in it out of the garage into the compost bin. Found an empty half barrel to stand it on and put some compost in the bottom - a new home for the latest lot of potatoes I succumbed to buying the other day. Put the lid firmly on the dustbin and left the potatoes where they were in the spare room chitting.

Checked the peppers - still not germinated

Checked the tomatoes - the plants I sowed in January look like the first flowers may open in the next day or 2.

Pricked out the (3) cabbage seedlings. Decided to try growing PSB like mustard and cress on damp kitchen paper instead of using compost.

                      Dug some leeks for tea.

Has anyone else got a garden full of ladybirds?

                        • Today I... Went and measured my new allotment. Approx 400sqm incl buildings.

Tonight I am... Drawing up plans and working out how much space things will need.

                            • More polytunnel renovation today. Bit tedious removing the strapping which held the old cover in place but it's done out of the way. laid some slabs to the bottom door from the central path so clean footing all the way in

                              • Constructed a couple of 1m x 2m raised beds out of some spare wood. Well, to be fair I just held stuff as my wife did all the drilling and fixing. I'm useless at any DIY stuff! Also watered the remaining brassicas, it's been sunny and warm here during the day for over three weeks now and not a drop of rain.
