Y/day I planted up 24 strawberry runner in the new bed. This morning I'm picking up some sharp sand to dig into my carrot bed. I've also got a job application form to fill in.Chris

My mushroom spawn arrived which reminded me I hadn't prepared anywhere to grow it...................so a couple of hours later, after joining 2 cardboard boxes together, filling with well rotted manure with a shovel of wood ash, I ended up with a mushroom house...........................Attached Filessigpic“Gorillas are very intelligent, but they don't have to be as delicate as chimps -- they can just smash open the termite nest,”

Not a lot today, just checked everything in tunnel, all coming along nicely. Everything I've planted has started showing signs of life..... So had a quiet day.
Don't go back to work until Friday so hopefully get some more garden done before then.

Dug two more trenches, and am now ready for my earlies to go in this weekend.
Watered the greenhouse and tidied an overgrown strawberry patch.

Managed to get half an hour at lunchtime - used the bulb planter to chuck in some 'Rocket' spuds on part of the newly cleared ground. I had previously cleared brambles / ivy and a load of whips, covered it with cardboard and coated with spent compost. We'll see how they go.
Did a tray of turnips seeds and then planted out a tray of Garlic that have been patiently sitting in the cold frame since November (ish).
Checked on the stuff in the GH, broadies are mostly up (the replacements after the greedy mouse/rat/whatever). Not many peas up. Will do another tray. Spinach up and ready to go out. While wearing your night clothes, plant cucumbers on the 1st May before the sun comes up, and they will not be attacked by bugs.

Walked round checking everything and noticed the PSB is nearly ready. Harvested plenty of young salad leaves form the grow light garden. Planted some Hurst Green Shaft peas in pots in the propagator. Studied the weather forecasts (a hobby of mine) - the detailed weather charts, not the TV and newspaper summaries. Looking cold over the weekend and next week, so decided to hold off putting anything new outside for the moment (the current predictions from some models for April, May and June look rather unpleasant unfortunately, but there is time for them to change). Dug some more of my friend's veg garden.Last edited by Penellype; 18-03-2014, 08:30 PM.A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. LLAP. - Leonard Nimoy

Did a bit of weeding while I was there and also gave the spring onions I planted last week a bit of water.

Spent all day completely redecorating my kitchen as a surprise for OH as he is working away only for our daughter to tell him on the phone 'guess what daddy we haven't painted the kitchen' which sort of gave it away!
Didn't really get a chance to get into the garden although I did notice that my lettuce and carrots have started breaking the surface
