Should have posted this last night but never got online. Dug over the top 3rd of the lottie, weeded and cleared. So a 1/3 is now just about ready for this seasons crop to be planted

Crikey, 3 of my recalcitrant 'champagne bubbles' sweet pea seeds finally germinated! That was after being chipped and swaddled in damp kitchen towel in the heated props gator. That's only 3 out of the whole packet but I consider more 'educated' about sweet peas now. Trial and error - it's frustrating at times but you can't beat it.

Built some netting frames for my 1x1m raised beds out of blue pipe and covered them with veggiemesh. They're slightly lopsided but since we're looking at moving house anyway I'm not too bothered about that! Hopefully the netting will mean I might actually get to harvest some brassicas this year.

More measuring, marking and cutting of wood today for my first brassica cage. Will pop down the allotment soon for a flying visit to plant the last 3 chitted Parsnips to complete my row

Decided it was about time to repaint the conservatory. Spent the morning cleaning, sweeping and generally doing all the prep work. Sorted out paint, brushes and a roller. Just when i was about to start the sun got really hot so I left everything where it was and spent a glorious afternoon in the garden digging, weeding and generally just enjoying being outdoors.
And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

Put another 40 sprouted snip's in using dibber/compost to deter forking, plus a row just as they are to see how they go.
Also did a tray of little gem and a tray of basil.
Cleaned up after the latest rat/mouse/whatever attack in the GH - spinach given a going over and the two remaing broadies that had not surfaced were rooted up and snaffled.
Accidentally opened a pack of carrot seeds thinking they were lettuce. 8/ - So weather/time permitting might be sowing a few rows of carrots tomorrow. While wearing your night clothes, plant cucumbers on the 1st May before the sun comes up, and they will not be attacked by bugs.

Bought my mpc from BnQ today, buy 3 x 60l for £12 said the big signage. Good job I can do the maths and bought 2 x 125l bags for £11.96 lol. Also got 6 of their 12l orange buckets @ £1.50 buckets for my tomatoes. No Morrisons round here for free ones. Ordered new recycling containers from the council, so have lots of bags, bins, buckets for our crops this year. Now there is a frost predicted by the weekend arghhhhh.
Question, I have 2 bags with spuds outside. Their shoots are not pushing through yet. Do I still need to protect them from frost. I have newspapers or bubble wrap. What do you guys think?Nannys make memories
