  • Potted my 4 hop rhizomes. Decided to pot them before moving them up to the allotment. I'm really looking forward to growing these hops! Also potted 2 strawberry plants, and all my seedlings are now going crazy!! They will all need potting on or moving straight up to the plot soon. The growing season is underway!!

            • Dug out half a patio area, and used the topsoil on the raised veg beds; plank-partitioned off the fruit bush bed from the adjacent path; whip-and-tongue grafted a couple of (unidentified, but very fragrant fruit) apple scions onto MM106 rootstocks. First time grafter, fingers crossed!

                  • My pepper seedlings seem to be on strike. They have stayed at two seedling (as opposed to true) leaves for 3 weeks now since coming out of the heated prop, despite being on the warmest windowsill of the house. Perhaps I took them out of the propagator too soon? But I like to whip things out of there quickly before they go leggy.

Mine are being slow on the uptake too noosner. I put some rainbow chillis in, and some outdoor ripening green chillis at the same time. The rainbows have done well, and are just starting to form their first true leaves, but there has been no sign of anything whatsoever from the others

My chillies are doing the same . . . I have them in the greenhouse so they have as much light as I can give them

Is it heated? Very cold for chillies in the GH at the moment.

Potting on my toms and chillies today.

No not heated but they are getting some heat from the electric propagator.

                            • Mine are still quite small, too but if I remember correctly that was the same last year, and they did catch up eventually - it's not even April yet!

                              • Went to B&M and picked up a bird feeder pole, seed feeder, nut feeder, coconut fat feeder, and half a dozen fat balls. All assembled and fully loaded, and just waiting for the birds to realise ...

I also picked up a white rose bush and red rose bush for £1.50 each. Not sure what to expect from them in terms of quality, but worth the gamble at that price. Finally I picked up a couple of window box baskets for hanging on the house side of the fence. This will give me somewhere for the surplus wild white strawbs, and I'll be starting another thread with questions on companions for them
