    • I impulse bought an apple tree from aldi, planted it, and then had a lovely barbecue in the late sunshine.

      • Made a start on two flower beds while my girlfriend cleared the weeds. Lots more clearing to do in these beds.
        Planted our first rhubarb.
        Dry hopped my beer.

        • Planted the asparagus bed (10 crowns)
Tidied up some of the potted stuff
Tidied up the whole "veg area" as it had become a bit of a tipping ground for anything vaguely garden related.
Planted out some peas along with their new DIY climbing frame
Painted the wood for the soon to be raised bed with wood preservative
Put some wild garlic into a container to hopefully reduce the slug attacks

          • Youngest son half emptied both daleks and filled the bean bed with beautiful compost. After he had left I was able to clear the kale bed. I took care to chop it up into small pieces to put in the daleks and I've left out the hard stalks to bash with the hammer. Sowed lots of beans into loo rolls - by they take some filling. Potted on some more toms which are now languishing on the window sills upstairs often witnessing deep, deep sighs from Himself

              • Weeded a few pots, uploaded some piccies to the blog and had my hair cut from well past collar length and a fringe down to my chin, to "OMG you can see my ears"

EDIT: Add taking a chance and unbundling my fig tree to that list too. Glad I did, it's budded and has even started to leaf. Fingers crossed we've seen the last of the frosts for this year

I grew celery last year and to my surprise it was brilliant, you just have to remember it is a marsh plant and loves lots of water. i dont know if yours is self blanching mine wasn't but its easy to wrap them. I used builders plastic damproofing, it comes on a roll and is about six inches wide. i had too many plants and so some were left a little too long and went woody, a few went to seed.

                  • Today I potted on the early tomatoes - they are now in their final pots, and they had their first day outside today. Planted spring onion, basil and marigold seeds indoors, planted out some broad beans that had germinated in paper pots to fill in the gaps in the outdoor sown ones, sowed lettuce seeds outdoors.

                    • Washed lots of plant pots and trays they soon add up once I start repotting. Filled guttering ready to sow my peas that's once they've sprouted.

                        • Sank Maris piper, kestrel, and king eds spuds. Have 20 tubers of Maris piper left, as I started to go a little loopy having seen far too many spuds.

                            • Today I... Got a little excited to see that my courgette seeds are starting to germinate and I have real live plants growing. Woohoo! I was so excited I went to Wilkos at lunchtime to get more cells so that I can plant some more seeds tonight.

                              • Finished digging and weeding the bed I. started last night. Got a phone call this morning from the punter I was supposed to meet this evening who wanted an allotment saying he no longer wanted it.
Instantly rang the next person on the waiting list and arranged to meet her.
Showed her the plot and she left a deposit with the remainder to be paid on Thursday.
Surprisingly she had been to another site where they said children weren't allowed on site! She has three bairns and the oldest, 11 years old is dead keen.
Shame on the site that banned kids!
