Aside from shopping, I've replaced the coir liners with felt and planted tiarellas, brunella, and heucharellas in the troughs mounted on the fence. I then half filled a couple of new pots with compost so they don't blow about, and it means I should be able to pre-plan for my new trees arriving now. There might be some tweaking needed afterwards dependent on actual plant size and shape, but it lets me rough-set everything. Not figured out the layout yet though ...

Went to my lgc for some more compost got a bigger one this time I've gone through 560 ltr already! Replanted my tomato plants into their grow bags and laid another level of compost over the potato bag as they were starting to poke through, looking forward to the tatties Scottish heritage blue salad

Went up to my LGC (garden centre group) today to get some compost to fill my new beds. Slightly less money than I was anticipating as they had a deal on 6 bags for £20. Would have got 12 but my little car was looking a bit low on the suspension so may have to go back for more later in the week.

- planted out 100 Little Gem lettuces, in any gaps eg. around the base of peas and broadies
- put up canes and string for the broadies which are in full flower & wind-battered
- pulled dozens of self-sown parsnips as micro-veg: they were delicious roasted in spice mix
- gave the green manures another chop, dropped the foliage on the beds as nutritious mulch
- continued scraping topsoil off the driveway, to solve the perennial problem of weeds seeding onto plots
- caught 7 scallies walking on my garden. Now need to work out how to print off ID photos from the cctv
- pulled up all remaining carrots for the GPs. Needed space for beetroots
- no rain for 2 weeks now, so watered the plot (20 litres per metre, only on the plants that need it, ie new seedlings)
- ants in the daleks, so watered them well too
- continued topping up the comfrey tea with new leaves & water. I use a slosh in every watering
- bindweed is now showing it's nasty little face, so hoed it all off, which is a weekly job
- 100s of dandelion flowers around the plot, so picked off all flowers before they seed
- got more cane wigwams set up, ready for the Frenchies
- sowed more pumpkins in the heated prop
- and another pack of peas: that's 1500 plants nowAll gardeners know better than other gardeners." -- Chinese Proverb.
