    • Weeded the raspberries, which seem to attract a lot of grass!
Took apart a cloche that had broken.
Earthed up potatoes in readiness for the frost on friday!
Mused a lot about all the stuff I'm going to do and probably won't!!!! lol

      • Earthed up the early potatoes. Maincrop just showing above the surface.

        • marcofez my rasps get very grassy too - curious.

Earthing up potatoes - I thought DD had done this at the weekend but she hasn't. Will the pots really suffer if they aren't earthed up when the frost hits? I might get it done on Thursday, but tomorrow I won't have time.

So, I also weeded my rasps. Also weeded the peas and beans and set up wires for the peas to crawl around. Weeded round the rogue onions that have come up from last year. Pulled up a few nettles by the roots and hoiked out a load of sticky weed.

Moved lots of things out onto my bench and old window 'greenhouse' to enjoy the light for the day.

Is there anything that isn't made better by half an hour pottering in the veg patch?

          • Stuck my hand in the soil to get under a nettle root due to not having gloves on and came out with a handful of ant larvae and thousands of ants and luckily wasn't bitten.

Sown some Musk Melon, Rhubarb Chard, Spinach, Crysanthemum, Tomatillo and Nasturtium.

            Pretty active day!

            • Finished digging and raking a bed I started last night. Transplanted some rhubarb I grew from seed last year. Had to cut the plastic pot off it!
Spent a good while tidying up the paths around the bed and laying new boards to keep the weeds down.
Weatherwise, it was the nicest part of the day early evening!

                • Weeded and weeded and weeded some more! Moved a massive begonia tuber. Harvested asparagus and rhubarb. Fed peach and apricot trees ( peach not looking happy at all) sowed two trays of cosmos and one mixed tray of lettuce and rocket. Now for a bath and a glass of wine!

                    • Fed and watered everything that isn't ericaceous. Depending how much rain we get tonight, I might do the ericaceous stuff tomorrow

                      • Played Dock Scotch in the garden. Its a little game I've made up for weeding.
I have to stand next to a dock weed and pull it up, and as many as I can without moving my feet. Involves all sorts of contortions like reaching backwards between my legs for the docks that are behind me. When all the docks are pulled up I'm allowed to move one foot to the next dock and start again. Don't think I'll ever stand up straight again Serve me right fir letting them seed last year
I think this lot were playing Dock Scotch too

But it's raining and cold here for the third day running and I can't get out on the 'real' garden where everything is too soggy. I have melons glaciating in the greenhouse, tomatoes trembling in the tunnel, and peppers palpitating in the frames. What happened to spring?

And it's an escargatoire of snails! Kind of like that.

                            • Or a 'walk' of snails. Funny, as their movement is nothing like a walk. More of a creep.
