        • Moved the peppers and fennel out of their trays.
Checked the beer traps in the veg beds. The addition of slug pellets to the traps has increased the death count significantly. It also keeps the birds off the bodies.

Started digging out a large rockery / raised bed that's been there for 30 odd years. I now know what my parents did with all the rubble when they knocked out the kitchen wall before I was born .

I also got very wet and muddy. It's a messy day here with frequent heavy showers.

          • Set out 6 orphaned tomato plants in the GH. I bought them at the village garden club's plant sale for £1 when they were clearing the tables. Only one has a name "Red pea" which sounds like a medical problem but could be a "Red Pear" having lost its "r"
Two of them are rumoured to be Harbinger as they were in a tray with some but apart from that, I know nothing.
I also bought 2 Cucumbers labelled "Small". Its all an improvement on my purchase a couple of years ago, when I bought everything that was left including 3 pots labelled "Grass"

            • I went to plot this morning, planted 3 rows of a multi coloured dwarf bean I've been given (we'll see), 2 rows beetroot, a few spinach, where there were gaps, ran a length of garden string around mange tout to persuade them to attach onto netting.

Prepared bed for courgettes in few weeks, by digging in the stable manure we got last week. Heavy! Aching back now.

Now, didn't water cos, weather forecast was for rain thus PM, what's happening, a few spots and now sunshine.

              • Planted out runner beans - hard to dig with your fingers crossed!
Tidied up greenhouse, and removed EVERYTHING which wasn't actually a plant. It's amazing how much stuff had accumulated - radio, secateurs, various bottles and packets of stuff. Oh, and a cushion for the cat! Just had to be ruthless in order to make room for all my baby plants...

                              • Just spend half a fortune Mr G - lasagne fill the bed

Potted on 4 toms last night into their final buckets. Unfortunately they've had no hardening off, so will wait with baited breath to see what happens to them exposed to the elements.
