  • Just did a bit of watering of indoor plants at allotment. I then went to the local garden centre in search of some climbing peas as mine haven't germinated. Managed to get the peas but wasn't prepared to pay £3.50 each for plastic 8 foot canes!
Went to Dobbies and still begrudged paying £7.50 for ten X 8 foot canes.

That will be two round wigwams and and a strait sided wigwam. French beans on both round wigwams and peas on the straight one.

In his eagerness to show mum - he dropped the pot in the hallway. He was devastated!!!

I managed to salvage most of the soil and hopefully the seeds are still in there somewhere - I asked what he'd planted, "mystery seeds" apparently.

So hope they grow for him, sure they will.!

Oh dear, I hope they are still there and he has something to show for his enthusiasm!

              • Gutted- two week business trip - been away 10 hours and now sitting in Dubai Airport waiting for connections - missing the lotty already. Still left everything in the very capable and expert hands of Karen (wife).

Thought i would post a couple of pictures of our two plots, taken a couple of weeks back

when we started 18 months ago it looked like this and a lot, lot worse

                • Had Mothers Day breakfast, mulched the flower gardens around two silver birches that daughter is going to take over (well I did half while she moved the horse hay into the shed, then she did the other half).
Put my tin peacock intot he garden peeking thru the trees.

Heading to bed for a couple of hours sleep before I head off to work again.

                      Lol Kevin

Went to lottie between showers to find the birds have eaten my cabbages, luckily I have reserves. Need to find away to cover them.

Planted out some peas and dwarf French beans and a mystery courgette that I forgot to label.

The sweetcorn I put in my plastic greenhouse last weekend has all keeled over. Am I too late to start again?

                        • I've potted up 4 varieties of tomatoes, and carried them up 4 flights of stairs to top balcony, and now it's raining heavily and also very windy, don't think they're gonna be very happy!

                            • Today I planted some FREE tomato seeds from Heinz (tomato ketchup). I really don't need any more tomato plants but just can't resist sowing seeds! Never mind, I'll offer the seedlings to customers in the pub - one free with a pint of ale - now that's something you won't get at Wetherspoons!
I also sprayed my peach and nectarine trees with Fruit and Veg Bug killer - they have been in the greenhouse, and I noticed that they had been attacked by scale insects. Yuk! Have also moved them outside now - hopefully they won't get peach leaf curl....
