    • Replaced the debris netting that the wind had blown off my brassicas. The flying rats had had a good nibble but nothing totally destroyed, luckily.
Potted on tomatoes and cucumbers, pricked out celeriac and Virginia Gold tobacco seedlings.

                • Sowed some coriander and rocket into a new burnt wood planter that arrived today, made up my own pesticide mix and sprayed all the plants bothered by aphids and other bugs, lots of little flyers immediately flew away so I'm guessing the chilli in my pesticide had the desired effect

My butternut squash and courgettes have been outside in makeshift cold frame for a week and are OK. I'm in Essex

                            • Made my first batch of strawberry jam before my Monday afternoon volunteer at Age UK. The local co op was selling off English strawberries close to dates, that was all I needed to get started lol. Used my bargain Maslin pan, very good. My house smelt of Summer
