My wife came home with two packets of ranunculus things, tubers, roots whatever they were, they looked just like big spiders. I had not a clue which way up they should be planted, a quick google soon put that right. The internet is truly a fabulous resource.

Got the last 2 rows of main crop potatoes in the new plot. That 9 rows and 10 30ltr pots in total this year. The 6 rows I'm growing on the new plot will help improve the soil in that bed as I've added a wheelbarrow of cow manure to each trench I dug. Next year I'll grow my potatoes in the large bed that in hoping to grow squash's in this year. That's the bed I'm clearing at the mo. I'm hoping to start digging this bed this weekend.Chris

A friend told me yesterday that at her village (which is 3 miles away from my town) the allotment waiting list stands at the grand total of... 2. Where I live, it is 180. Mad!!
About to go down to the plot for the first time in ten days... will report back. Such a horridly busy fortnight with no time to get to lottie, not what the doctor ordered at all.

Went down for my first day at the plot with a list as long as my arm of jobs to get done in the 3 hours I had. Got 1 thing and A LOT of talking done! Won't be going with such a large to do list next time!

No trip to allotment after work today as I'm nursing an 'upper respiratory tract infection' 😩
Had a wander round the garden and spotted this though😋

Went out and bought some lovely old wooden potato chit ting trays for a couple of quid each , the bloke who sold them to me was pleased they were going to be used for growing/ chitting and other allotment things, rather than going to be some " shabby chic" type adornment in a Chelsea boutique .
Potted on tumbler, alicante and moneymaker tomato plants. Hoed the broad beans and planted some lobjoits lettuce under cover. Now getting ready to go to work for a 12 hour night shift full of fun and frolicks...... maybe.

Was reminded, the hard way, that I can't dig. Can't kneel, can't squat and bending makes my back ache. Got over it. Now I've remembered my limitations, I'll ask for help with the jobs I can't do and stick to the ones I can. Good job I've got an apprentice in training.
Anyway, after that bout of self pity, potted on the sweet corn. Loving the sunshineGranny on the Game in Sheffield

Have had a lovely, lovely day, with 2 other volunteer gardeners. We visited Great Comp, garden, had coffee, lunch etc, and spent few hours wandering thru beautiful gardens and woodland, just stunning, perfect. And now I think it's almost 'winoclock', on the balcony watching the River, and cheering on the joggers.DottyR

Completed a builders bag & half of chippings which I started yesterday...........got a fire going for all the twigs left over. Marked out 4 beds in preparation for the courgettes.sigpic“Gorillas are very intelligent, but they don't have to be as delicate as chimps -- they can just smash open the termite nest,”

Potted up my last two Pyramid Rainbow Chillis in their big pots, and put them on the front bedroom windoswill. Also potted up and sited my Bulgarian Giant Leeks and sited them in "Chaos Corner" in the garden. Spotted a few ropey leaves/shoots on my Jonagold Apple - trimmed off the worst leaves and gave it a feed in case it needed a boost.
I need to keep an eye on those, and figure out whether my giant leeks or my globe artichoke will be tallest based on their growing conditions .....

Moved my cucumbers into the next size up pots. Don't like to rush them into the greenhouse. Gave the lotty a good watering this morning.Chris
