Don't you go getting lost in my native town Chris.................
From the train station I'll jump in a taxi. I get all my travel expenses paid. I used to go Leeds a lot back in the late 80's early 90's as the clothes shops are great. Hopefully the van should have sat-nag but just in case I'll take mine. Cheers

It's bad enough when driving to have the entire family moaning at you, now there is Sat Nag!!!
Took my oldest to the war museum and caught all the planes practicing for the air show tomorrow got home to my arrival of the free plants from the magazine so will be getting them all in the ground this evening once the kids are in bed
Baby sat the grandchildren this morning and got badgered into taking them to the allotment, or as they refer to it my other garden.
My grandson (4) decided it would be fun to go on a snail hunt and promptly started turning things upside down, if it wasn't nailed down it was fair game, my gran daughter (2) on the other hand was not so impressed as she came running over because she had found only found "biders and nakes".
My grandson collected over 20 slugs and snails before the rain came so worth the trip.
My irate daughter called this afternoon to ask why my grandson had 3 slugs in his coat pocket! Whoops
- chopped up a bucket full of alfalfa, comfrey & clover, added to school's veg beds as a mulch to feed the poor silty soil they have
- planted out even more peas, & netted them against pea moth
- was gifted even more flowers for the perimeter fence, everyone says how fab it looks now
- picked first bag of broadies, let the school kids pod them
- some of school's Jap onions are bolting, so we pulled them & they took one home each
- planted lettuce in the gaps
- got myself a nasty blister on my ring finger (parsnip sap burn)
- planted the sweetcorn out, not so much this year for some reason
- crowbarred some more wigwams in for more climbing beans
All gardeners know better than other gardeners." -- Chinese Proverb.
Nemaslugged as much of my plot as I could. The blighters decimated my first planting of peas, so I'm hoping my next batch, which will be planted out next weekend, will survive.
Discovered my garlic has rust.
Stared in bafflement at the one Mayan Gold potato plant that has been slaughtered by slugs, while the others are more or less fine.
Pulled up bindweed. And more bindweed. And a bit more bindweed. And even more bindweed. And didn't even scratch the surface of the bindweed problem...
Planted out the leek and tiny ball carrots. Watered the front gardens, and the side garden - otherwise known as the rainbow chard garden.
Can't believe how many little seedlings are finally showing their face in the waffle garden out front. Had just about given up hope!
Put the blueberries in the front side garden, and prayed for them.
Tomorrow is attack the food forest. Water it tomorrow, and probably do the remodelling on monday.
Some days it's hardly worth chewing through the restraints!
One bit of old folklore wisdom says to plant tomatoes when the soil is warm enough to sit on with bare buttocks. In surburban areas, use the back of your wrist. Jackie French

Decided the peach tree is going to a new home .... one with a greenhouse (I have no intention of wrestling leaf curl). Dragged out an old trellis from behind the shed, and just propped it up against the BBQ for now. Had a quick look round everything else but it's far too wet cold and miserable out there for me to be bothered doing anything
Been busy dodging the showers in the last couple of days but still managed to get plenty done. Cleared the weeds out of my friend's greenhouse and set up large bags of compost for tomatoes and peppers. Rigged up cane supports and planted tomatoes, peppers and an aubergine that I succumbed to while buying compost. Also planted out french beans and a courgette plant in my hotbed and rigged up fleece over hoops as the previous system of covering the bed with a piece of rigid plastic was now too low.
Sowed some cauliflowers, although I have no idea where I will put them.
Weather permitting tomorrow's job is to put up the fruit cage as the strawberries look like they may ripen soon. That will require a major rearrangement of the pots on the patio - could be interesting.
