Had ants swarming through the windowsill from outside, so got rid - with about 6 kettles of boiling water outside under the window! Watered all the toms. They dry out faster than I can water in this weather so I'm expecting some blossom end rot
Went down to my plot this morning to pull some carrots for this evening's meal, even though it was raining! whilst there I checked my waterbutts to see if they were filling up with all that rain water that was coming down, a nice surprise, both were near to full, happy with that fact, I checked the guttering around my shed for any debris that may have collected in them. Job done
Yay, yay and double yay, I can grow red onions! The Electric that I thought were going to be puny are beautiful, big, round and red. Lifted them proudly
Planted the first of my proper crops on my allotment, very chuffed with myself
Also while I was there one of the old fellas said he's giving up his plot and asked me if I wanted his 60 strawberry plants. He's popping some over when he digs them up
Made the blackcurrant jam today.Six pots of lovely jam from 2lbs of BC ,all labelled with labels which came from GYO.
MrBigW keeps eating the "trial" pot ie.the spoonfuls left after filling the jars.Told him off as I wanted to to try it on toast for breakfast tomorrow! Well it will have to be marmalade as usual because the 6 pots are already earmarked for family and friends. Anyway it needs to be kept a little longer than twelve hours! P.S. Funny spelling in my post yesterday. iPad was feeling lazy and mischievous!

My red onions really let me down no bigger than radishes. WHY?
Have you lifted them?..........if so had the leaves died down?.........mine are just swelling up.

P.s Cabbages doing great though leaves like elephant ears, does anybody cut the leaves and eat before the hearts are dug up and eaten?
