Planted 5 of my caulies into the soil. I've grown them on in pots in the hope of defeating the slugs. I'll see how they fare over the next few days before I put the rest in.

Pulled up the remains of my pumpkin/squash/courgette foliage and composted it. Pulled up the few weeds that were evident and pruned a gooseberry that was in the same bed to a single stem.
Covered bed with three barrow loads of hoss muck which has a lot of sawdust in it.............but it's free so i don't mind!
Covered the muck with two barrow loads of straw from the chicken run.
Planted a bed full of japanese onion sets, both red and Senshyu. Harvested a mooli for dinner. Barrowed four barrow loads of compost from a communal heap onto my personal heap!My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order
to present to him vegetables and all beautiful flowers.- Offerings of Thutmose III to Amon-Ra (1500 BCE)

I paid rent on my allotment as it's that time of year so I'm now £81 poorer. Ordered my potatoes. Only ordered 3 kilo as I'm not sure how much room I'm going to have.
Removed some cabbage that were more slug holes than leaf. Gave them to a lottie neighbour for her chickens. I then dug over and weeded the bed as it's where I'm going to out my asparagus in spring. I'll mulch with rotted leaves next time I go.
Removed a couple of poppy heads so I can save seed, I love poppies and these had self seeded. I picked another pound of blackberries, I just need one more pound for another gallon of wine.
I've been to tesco and then racked my first wine kit in to bottles. Might have a tipple with the lamb that I put in slow cooker at 9am.

Got seed catalogue from allotment shop, 60% at least discount, good. Also bought 3 bags soil improver, gosh that was heavy. Moved done 'uncomposted materiel ' and dumped onto 2 beds and covered with black fabric, to hopefully rot down over winter, ( worked last year). Planted 3 rows of garlic. Felt as if I had achieved something today, and also had a chat with neighbour who gave me some corn cobs and cosmos.DottyR

Planted some lavender bushes for the bees, along with some bee friendly flowering bulbs for next spring, another row of onions went in, and 70 garlic bulbs planted, checked my cauliflower plants, they don't look very healthy at the mo, hoping they will pick up again, should have got them in sooner !Last edited by Rob the Radish; 06-10-2014, 11:05 AM.
