Lidl have got cracking Garlic bulbs 3 for 89p............I got a few to edge the beds as I read it is "supposed" to deter voles & the likes.

      • I had an afternoon in the plot which was a treat. Lifted some spuds and then had a loverly bottle of beer with my allotment neighbour. Won't be many afternoons left to do that so that made it more enjoyable

        • Just a few jars of autumn plum jam made today. A 1kg punnet was 74p in Lids on Sunday, couldn't say no. One of the 'elderlies' that I make a Christmas box for loves plum jam, another likes marmalade, another likes strawberry.
Good job I have made them all.
Oh, and I did cook a chicken curry at the same time lol

            • Took a load of cardboard to the allotment and covered three more 4 foot wide beds until I decide what to plant in them. Munched on grapes and gave chooks another corn on the cob to play with along with a large piece of PSB that had been broken off with the wind.

                  • Pulled out my tomatoes from the greenhouse and planted out some salad leaves (Winter Greens - The Goodlife Mix) in their place. The lettuce seedlings will join them when they are a bit bigger.

                      • Scrubbed all the algae of the outside of the tunnel. The difference in the light was amazing. Picked all the tomatoes and put the in trays to finish ripening or make chutney with if they don't ripen. Tomorrow I will clear out all the old plants.

                        • Planted my £5 apple tree from A$da just have to wait and see what happens. Measured my plot the total area is 9 metres wide x 21 metres long. It started raining then so that's all I managed, I'll measure the rest the weekend.

                          • So far I've managed to feed my one and only pumpkin, weed the flower bed and really got down to the grass roots. Weeded and prepared two beds for onions. Planted garlic and Red Cross onions. Back's aching a bit now, so having a well-earned rest

                            • Tackled a bit of the plot I have been putting off for ages. Strimmed it and then attacked with a flame gun. Now home to my bird feeding station.

                              • Dug up a chilli plant and potted up, hopefully to overwinter. Planted three Redcurrant bushes, a Cherry tree and some Raspberry Canes and spread a layer of compost over the beds that I cleared earlier in the week.
What do you get if you divide the circumference of a pumpkin by its diameter?
