I am going away for two weeks mid May. We don't usually go till mid Sept and every thing usually takes pot luck. But I will have to sort something as it is the start of the growing season and I can't afford to loose everything. My other problem is that I have three big greenhouses and they take ages to water.I will be rigging up everythig Ican think of to get the plants waterfor those two weeks.

Last year we went on honeymoon in May and we asked two sets of friends to look after the garden, but despite their best efforts we still lost about a third of everything. This year we are not taking any chances and will be holidaying later in the year when the main growing and harvesting seasons are over.

        Irrigation system

Our plot is on a hill side. We put our shed on the top of the plot and green house at the bottom. Last year hubby found a couple of recycled tanks so he put one of them next to the shed to collect water and put a tag on it to get water to the greenhouse. In the greenhouse he used a timer and some irrigation drips to water plants. It worked really well. When tank is full it will supply water for about 7 days in dry summer. We went away for a couple of weeks in the summer, without problem. See pics.
