Because it does it so much, that they no longer hear it. Yappy Dogs/Screaming Kids/Revving Cars = AAAAARRRGGGHH! I've never let my Dogs bark for no reason; it's bad manners, as far as I'm concerned.

Yes. For the last 2 years, the blokey who always seems to pop his head out each and every time we garden and make conversation......and who now seems to have a lottie near us.

Mr Z got me a little rechargeable dab radio which sits with me all the time now so I just have that on all the time and our plot is big enough for someone more than 1 plot away not to hear it.

And all the EMA planes, but mainly helicopters whizzing over the plot.

That plane was quite loud and low - but I'm very envious of your fabulous rural setting!

I live between two military airfields - one has Awacs and Typhoons, the other has the Red Arrows. I've come to find them part of the landscape.
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom

I saw one of the boys screaming along in the Lakes a few weeks back. He was above Wast Water, and I was above him. First time I've seen one from the top down. A very spectacular sight, though not the closest I've seen one.
We caught what looked like a bit of dogfight practice too, but we were just below the ridge and so missed the best of it. By the time we'd got to the top they were long gone.

Biggest noise pests on our plot are the local ruffians on their motorbikes speeding through the park next door and the occasional allotmenteer who is a bit too keen on playing the radio in his car while he works. It's not SO bad when it's sports, but when it's Radio 1 or some local garbage-heap of a station playing some of the worst "music" ever made it gets a bit too much.

You and me both - those helicopters come whizzing over us to you then or vice versa and EMA is the only airport going all through the night. I can just about wave over the Trent to you!

                love where you are!
We have a really large airplane that lumbers over from time to time ...it just appears from behind the cliffs so you dont hear it til its over the house/garden....
but we get the mirages screaming over sometimes but interestingly not for a while ...think they are busy in Libya.

Whilst climbing or hill walking in the Lake District you're guaranteed to be above them daily as they zip through on practice. It is quite spectacular!

You must live near me!! I love seeing the Red Arrows in the skies above Lincoln - they still makes people stop to look even though they have been here practicing for many years.

The neighbouring plot has 'humming' line for bird scaring and when it's quiet and the wind begins to blow I look for the helicopters before I remember what the noise is. It gets quite loud.
Oooh, and the screaming grandchild who visits my neighbour frequently. The older 2 are fine but the youngest wants her own way ALL the time and just screams and they all ignore her. It's probably good practice to ignore the behaviour but it makes life unpleasant for the rest of us.

I've *heard* them loads of times in the lakes, but other than that day the only times I've actually seen them I've been on the valley floor with them tearing along at heights that look like they are trying to collect chimney pots.
I know they are higher than they look, but it's hard to get used to seeing them so low sometimes.

Dreadful noise locally from the birds, they're starting making those tweeting noises before we get up in the morning and they do it all day and only stop when it gets dark and then the night shift take over.

They disturb the fast jet pilots who very occassionally fly up and down the Dordogne, not to mention the two or three flights of transport planes who do their low flying every year before they drop into Bergerac airport for coffee and ice cream - seen them there doing it!!

But that aside, all is very peaceful and tranquil here in SW France.

Someone read out a message on Radio 2 the other day, saying something about telling the Birds to sit closer together, so they didn't have to shout! LOL
