We've made 3 raised beds. Without killing each other.

Anywyas, the next part is what have you got between the paths of your raised beds? OH wants to scatter lawn seed and promises me he will mow it diligently. But I'm not looking forward to weeding lawn from the raised beds.

So something about the price of lawn seed would be great

Why not use a green manure, then cuttings can go into compost, plus it dos'nt realy matter if the path is overgrown a bit between cutting as the wildlife will love the cover supplied and will reduce muddy ground if a well used path.
If you ever change the design of the allotment or paths there is no worry about digging the path in.
        All the best to all,
        Fred P.

I have stone chippings between my beds. On the allotment I'm going to be using tree chippings. Eddies use of sand seems quite a good idea - not sure how long it'll stay looking like that though!

Thats a great picture, and a nice piece of wordworking. Did you preserve the finished beds with anything and wasn't decking boards expensive?
