  • Tomatoes: Inside or Out?

    Good morning!

This is my first year growing toms. I got several varieties going in my conservatory nice and early so they are well on their way now, I'm really proud
I know it's too early to put any of them outside yet, but I like to plan. All the varieties I have are supposedly happy inside or outside according to the packet, but I just wondered if anyone knows from experience which each one prefers?
    I am growing:
    *Sungold (cherry)
    *Suncherry (cherry)
    *Gardener's Delight (cherry?)
    *San Marzano (plum)
    *Marmande (beefsteak)

They have a choice of sunny conservatory, or sunny patio (against garden fence or conservatory wall).
    Thanks in advance everyone!

    Welcome to the Vine Nibbler.
It will help people to give you answers that are more relevant to your conditions if you add your location to your profile. (It will then show in the top right hand corner of your posts).

I've grown Gardener's Delight outside for years up in the North Pennines and Cheviots so you should be OK with that.

Someone will probably be along shortly to advise you about the others.
The problem with rounded personalities is they don't tesselate.

Ah! Yes that is a jolly good point I will do it now. I live in Liphook, Hampshire and I have a south facing patio garden that gets sun most of the day, except in the evening due to trees 20' to the south west.
Thank you for your advice about the GD, I'll be kicking them out after last frost then

I've grown all those except Suncherry outside against my south facing gable end wall and had good harvests. I dare say you'll get other grapes saying they've done really well in a greenhouse, so it's really up to you!
