  • Cheap Propagator

I was visiting my MIL's over the weekend, and I had to take a picture of her propagators, as I thought they were absolutely fab.

If you can't make out what they are, they are two clear plastic supermarket meat cartons put together, I love her she is proper old skool thrifty.

    Ingenious.

I like her style... I do that too, but with hummous pots (spot the vegetarian) or cut-off pop bottles

Might try this with any left over easter egg plastic that gets discarded in the household this year

I cut a 2 litre pop bottle 2/3 down. Small pot goes in bottom bit (so can water from below) and "dome" sits on top (don't forget to take the cap off). Works a treat to propagate and acts as a mini greenhouse. My chillies are all in them at the mo.

Brilliant Mikey, I always think it's a shame to put them in the recycling bin. I also use the flat trays that French pastries come in to chit my seeds.
