Beer traps didn't work for me when I tried them and its a bit off a waste really but what did work for me was planting marigolds throughout my veg patch, they were eaten by slugs and snails but my veg wasn't touched, I'm doing it again this year and have grown the marigolds myself for a change..

Tried that once - had more luck using the beer can trap to squash the slugs... might have used the wrong beer though.

Am trying out copper tape around the edges of my raised beds on the off chance that helps. Two inch strip or thereabouts all the way around. Course, I will have to get rid of the ones actually in the bed at the moment and keep forgetting that bit.

Small slugs live in the soil, bigger ones like to hide in long grass, or under stones, or in gaps just about anywhere really

Strangely I haven't seen one slug yet this year, but thousands of snails in various sizes. I hate slugs and snails.

I've seen snails on the outside of the window. On the second floor.

My neigbour told me to spray WD40 around the bottom or top of my pots and containers as the slugs/snails will not cross it - not tried it as not had a slug problem yet - touch wood!!!
