Try a slug hunt in the dark, with head torch and bucket of salty water (I got 53 the other night)
I want to take up slug hunting but am worried about upsetting the balance of nature

    - what will the frogs, hedgehogs and slow worms eat if i rapture all the slugs?

The thousands you missed. And their eggs, if you are lucky.

Will sort out some netting tomo, as I'm getting married on Friday and away on honeymoon after.
Paulieb, you say that so calmly! Congratulations and I hope your day is a huge success!

You will never rapture all the slugs, don't worry about it. Anyways, slugs are bad for hedgehogs (they prefer worms) and I don't have any frogs or slow worms, so I am No. 1 Predator in my garden

thanks twosheds! There are so many slugs in my garden I must be no.1 predator too.

i went on a slug hunt last night and it was so satisfying. I picked about 100 off my beans, courgettes etc.
Brilliant to think how much damage was prevented.

There were quite alot of perfectly innocent slugs out as well, eating things I'm not growing - ground elder, dandelions, volunteer artechokes.
I got rid of them too.

Thanks! Our wedding day flew by but was brilliant.

Have now covered up Cabbages and Caulis (now recovering)
