I am running one and a half allotments at the moment and have still run out of space with no room for sweetcorn this year. About half a plot is given over to fruit and the yields are improving each year, though some bushes wont come into production for a couple of years yet. The veg part gives us veg for 90% of the year. I usually run out of onions and potatoes.

yeah, but i was sick of the sight of them by september, and really really sick of them by october, and I emptied my local shop of vinegar and sugar.
Although I really would recommend green tomato and vanilla jam. Lovely stuff. And tomato and chilli jam.And sweet chilli dipping sauce. And black tomato passata.

Thats a lot of veg Mrs D! I envy you the space to store it all. I have a tiny kitchen and a normal sized freezer. Thats in the dining room, no room at all in that kitchen. So if I grow too much it goes to waste 23 tom plants last year gave me lots of sauce, dried toms and more chutney than I could shake a stick at!

Well, we sold most of the excess plants at the allotment sale yesterday, although Ive got 40 odd toms leftover, so if anyone wants any, then let me know, all you gotta do is come n fetch them! Had 15 chillies left over (from the 60 excess I grew for the plant sale), although I think I can squeeze them into the back yard in pots

I don't think 18 Aubergines is a lot, each plant doesn't produce more than a couple of fruit for me ... Same with Sweet Peppers. Although for Chillies I grow Demon Red which produces masses of little chillies (which aren't ready until the end of the season), and once dried 4 or 5 plants provide me with all we can use in 12 months ...

I'm surprised some of your other varieties aren't producing "a bit much" though

15-ish each of Sprouts, Brocolli, Cabbage does us, although we grow more Cauliflower than that - but only 6-ish at a time as they only "stand" for about a fortnight once ready.

I thought we were excessive with 6 Courgettes plants!

Do you realise how many cucs you'll get from 15 plants, I was giving away excess from the single plant in my polytunnel last year as I was picking about 3 full sized fruits off it every week for several months and was running out of things to do with them - don't bother with cucumber jam, it's rubbish but the pickled ones with chillies were lovely

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Ummmm - NO LOL! I've Never grown one yet - tried last year but managed to frispyfry them by leaving them in the conservatory unshaded. Have avoided this pitfall so far this year. To be fair - 3 are gerkins which I will pickle, Ive one cucino (teeny bite sized cukes) and a couple of white and the others are green. I didnt expect them all to come up (in fact they didnt) and I'm going to give some to friends.... However I certainly didnt think that they produced as much as that!

We were fairly inundated with cucs last year from 3 plants, but I LOVE cucumbers, and a friend of mine's daughter gets through one a day, so it wasn't a problem. This year I've sown 4, and got no plants yet Dunno what's gone wrong, but I might end up having to buy plants - it's almost cheaper than a packet of seeds!
