Parsnips are sown straight in the ground and the time to sow them is Apr/May ........so therefore they will not be able to follow potatoes as they won't be ready to harvest for a while.

Do you know when you will be harvesting your potatoes?? It is just about possible you could get a crop of baby parsnips. Planted by mid June would give you a good 3 months of growing which should be long enough to get baby parsnips. You could start the seed of in loo rolls beginning of June which would give you another 2 weeks growing time. All depends on those potatoes. Earlies should be ready after 13 weeks so you will have had to have planted spuds 1st week in March.

Nobody has said - but I would say full sun as its a root crop, most root crops need as much sun as they can get.
