    Interesting point. This is my second year growing Onions from seed; last year they were fantastic compared to the set ones I had grown for donkey's years before. This year planting out was much the same as last year so "fingers crossed". But the potential for White-rot from Sets has convinced me even more.

        And I think I almost imported some the other day, from supermarket onions. They looked fine when we bought them, but after only a couple of days in thr fridge one of them had developed fluffy white mould round the roots - so it went straight into the bin.

        Maybe we should stop composting onion peelings?
