Yellowing chilli leaves

Just a quickie


Have now had 4/5 jalopeno plants in pots for the last 5/6 weeks in the gh, waiting to be planted out once no risk of frost.

Have noticed the last couple of weeks the plant is getting a bit yellow. It now seems really yellow and when I touch the leaves they feel very soft and ready to fall, not dry mind you.

Could it be they have been in the pots too long and lack nutrients? They cant be over watered as I only really give them a splash every couple of days.

Is your green house heated? Chilli peppers need minimum temperature of 7C. If night temperature is lower than that, they will suffer, leaves turn yellow. Chilli pepper does not need a lot of feeding when they are young. You only need repot them when you see strong roots from the bottom of the pots.

TS is right TT, the chillies tell you when they're ready to pot on, I've got rather a lot to pot on in the next few days.

My blowaway has been getting down to 2º at night but my chillies haven't suffered for it. I think it's more likely as TS said, lack of nutrients. Pot them on and/or give them a good feed and they should be fine

Well as I said I potted them on into a pot 2 sizes bigger. The roots were quite wound round the other pot.

Think if we have another 5/6 days of no frost I will be potting all my stuff on into their final spot next week. My last frost is meant to be early May

Hi Peeps,

A little advice if I may. Thought I'd tac it on to this thread as it of a similar nature. The lower leaves on my Chilli's and pepper plants have recently started to roll so that they are upside-down, I'm a little concerned, I've been try to water sparingly recently as I fell foul to over watering last year. Could this be the cause? Or maybe lack of nutrients. I read that peppers and chilli's like to have their roots confined so most of them are in 5" and 7" pots (1 plant per pot) do I need to pot on?
