I am growing mine - Garten Perle - too but in pots - they tumble really well and I agree Snadger, the taste off the vine is as juicy and good as any other.

Good Grief DavyBurns, those are so advanced! When did you sow them?
The problem with rounded personalities is they don't tesselate.

Was wondering that too, and what lifestyle have they been living all this time?

They were germinated in my conservatory in late January, and were heated at room temp until the end of February, since then They have been in a sheltered GH with 3 heater tubes , 1 x 6, 1 x 5' and a 4' one, on thermostatic timers until mid April, were they were hung outside (after hardening off) and have been there since, apart from one night when a frost was forecast.

Top job - did you use any artificial light on them?

Do let us know when they ripen and how much the heating costs?

                good luck with them!

I've just planted up the school's hanging basket with 100s & 1000s tomatoes, parsley, lettuce, nasturtium, thyme & dwarf beans

No artificial light, and it will be difficult to quantify the cost of heating, as the conservatory heating has a no frost facility, and they were in electric propagators. I reckon the GH heating for the 8 weeks it was on must have cost about £110 going by what my electricity bill was last year, but as there was about a 100 plants all told, this works out at just over £1 a plant.

The enclosed photos are Shirley taken at the weekend, and sown at the same time as the Maskotka

My wife has jus reminded me that the cost of electricity has risen sharply, so I suppose the cost will be less than I thought

That's one reason I'd like a wind turbine at home! (an solar panels - I've a large south facing roof I could use).

my neighbour said to me the other day he was interested in a wind turbine too.. going off topic here but we share a garden tot he front of out house, thats very windy! Perhaps it could be a joint venture if that's possible.
