Which is the same reason I posted this, JamesM - I've re-used garden centre ones, had loads from family/friends.. either they've been re-used numerous times, or they're just plain rubbish

Neoprene would also be a suitably long lasting material!
Great minds think alike , I too was thinking of my silicone baking trays....

Quick Snadger, shall we get together and start manufacturing some?

It would be like the everlating lightbulb or De Lorean car..............some big conglomerate would buy the manufacturing rights then bury them. If something lasts forever, how can they make money by selling you the normal carp that only lasts a year or two?:

The more recent variety (smart, bright green) are rubbish!
My previous ones (B&Q or any old garden centre, black) are fine and keep going
I agree though about thin silicone - would it really be that expensive????

Oi! I already called 50%/50% each with Snadger above!

I've bought a load of modules now to see how they all compare. My wife is going to kill me.

I bought some about 6 years ago in B&Q and they were great, still going strong and used several times every year. Bought some more last year and the quality is totally rubbish, they're already falling apart, quality seems to have deteriorated quite a lot

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

If you go to alibaba.com, there will be an oriental that will be happy to make them for you, using your choice of materials

I've already asked if the others mind if I get some made. There's an injection moulding plant on the outskirts of cardiff that do this sort of thing. I'd rather keep any business local

We use separators inside ordinary seed trays. They're made of yellow plastic that looks a bit like 4mm twin-walled poycarbonate, but perhaps not quite as strong.

A 'set' is three strips for the length of the seed tray and five strips that go across it - making 24 cells. Each strip has slots, so they interlock. Can't remember where they came from though, we've had them for years. We've also got some black ones that have their own base, they're not as easy to use becaue they make up a square.

I'm sure somebody could work out how to make them out of, say, plastic milk containers.

Well, I started to trail the ones someone posted above - the plug plant trainers. Shall report back how they go.

I know what you mean, but a few years ago, I wanted some ID lanyards printed with my company name woven into the nylon, and the best I could do in the UK was £1.90 each min order 1000, then I tried Alibaba.com, and got them for 16p each min order 3000, plus P&P from China. with everything included was 1/4 the price of anything I could have got here

Oh, this is a sticky issue. I'm not happy with Chinese people being locked into factories working 18 hr days for 20p a day (or something), or with the increasing decline of British jobs.

You can pay cheap for Chinese goods, but then you have to accept paying British people to stay on the dole
