  • French Bean new leaves eaten

Something (probably a mouse) has eaten the growing point of almost every single newly germinated French Bean, the seed leaves have been ignored.

We're hoping there's a chance of side shoots developing, but as it's quite a long time since we grew anything edible I thought I'd check - in case we're wasting our time.

I've occasionally had growing tips nipped out from beans and it's usually been slugs to blame. They have never re-sprouted for me though. I think you've still got time to sow again.

Slugs and snails. It's a bit of a fuss, but I tend to start french beans in pots.

I'm sowing french beans today or tomorrow in modules. I let them become sturdy little plants before I put them in the ground. Slugs have had a feast on mine before.

It will be slugs and snails - they don't always leave a slime trail
