I think this might be where I can get an edge. At least 2 of my 3 rivals will be eating theirs too. I'm prepared to dedicate a whole plant to 1 bean. The third rival...hmmm...he could be tricky. He is competitive.

I use high nitrogen Miracle Grow though I have never `bean` been in this sort of competition.
Unlike 2Sheds I do mist not sure it helps but hey I do that with Miracle Grow to so it just gives them more food.
Six of my plants are grown up 7ft canes and then are tied along a rope for another 5/6 foot as an aside of this I find my longest straightest beans come from the free hangers on these ropes.

I haven't got that much room, but I could probably train one sideways across the fence. Actually, I think I will. It can't hurt!

I find that when you grow runners in a wigwam say the beans can get tangled with foliage etc and a lot of them grow curved or otherwise mishapen if you can get some free hanging they will grow nice and straight which is what you are after.

Ok. I have mentally selected the plant I need to use. It's in the right position, and can easily be trained across the fence. Just got to remember to feed and water it.
