Potato - Blue Danube - anyone grown?

After a earlier potato disaster I have replanted but instead of the Desiree I ordered I got Blue Danube, also known as Adam's Blue. I know they are in the Sarpo family and so therefore have some blight resistance. I have grown some Sarpo ones before and found the potatoes rather dry and floury and prone to falling apart if boiled. Anyone grown these before?

I'm growing them too, but it's my first year, so not sure what to expect either. Sounds like they'd be ok for mash.

A few years back I think my dad grew them for baking spuds but I didn't like them much myself I found they seemed to coat the inside of my mouth dry and starchy.

We're growing them and have previously found Sarpos to be good for roasties and chips and hope the Blue Danube will work well as 'crushed' new potatoes (in a Masterchef stylie )

I have these growing too, curtesy of a T&M offer - I am planning on keeping them for the winter, so hope they're ok. They have been very slow to come through, only just started to poke their heads up. We'll have to compare notes

I'm growing them for the first time due to the offer as well, if I was you, I'd be pretty annoyed with T&M, as they obviously had too many BD because they were giving them away basically, so that's why they swapped your order.

They were substituted as being close to type as Desiree, so are early maincrop. Annoying that they were in stock when I ordered, I waited 2 weeks to get something I didn't really want. I've got a £5 off next order but it's only valid til the end of June. Big deal! I've emailled a complaint and will see what happens.

I also waited - 15 days from ordering before they even bothered sending them, despite them being in stock. Then I had to wait for them to chit before I could get them in, so they were really late. I emailed asking where they were; I was given the expected despatch date and told I was informed of the despatch date when I ordered. I checked. Dec 2010 - May 2011. Cheers T&M, that narrows it down a bit.
